Campaign Proposal Gender-Neutral Bathroom Motion Resolution WHEREAS there has been a dramatic increase in the number of trans-identified students accessing the Pride Centre who have expressed concerns regarding the safety of using university bathrooms WHEREAS trans people and those who identify as gender variant on our campus face ongoing discrimination and transphobia and the threat of violence on the University of Ottawa campus in general including discrimination around a disparity between gender expression and physical sex characterstics WHEREAS trans and gender variant people’s tuition and ancillary fees pay for facilities such as bathrooms and deserve to make use of these facilities free from the fear of violence WHEREAS bathrooms on our campus are not always safe spaces for trans and gender variant people BE IT RESOLVED THAT the SFUO adopt and support a campaign for an equal number of single occupancy gender neutral bathroom for every set of male and female bathrooms on campus. Strategy 1. The awareness of members of the uOttawa community about the lack of gender neutral bathrooms on campus and why their presence is imperative 2. Promoting support for the University’s implementation of accessible, gender neutral bathrooms. 3. Collectively creating an action plan with the University around the implementation of these bathrooms. Tactics 1. Letter writing campaign to the University 2. Working with the University to perform an audit of existing bathroom facilities 3. Work with Physical Resources to use the audit to create a short and long term action plan Resources 1. Support in launching an awareness and letter writing campaign

2. Coordinating meetings with Physical Resources and any other meetings necessary
