Project

CMPT 418 Project  For the class project you have to work in groups of 2 people. You have to design and launch some social  software to support some form of group interaction. It can be software supporting a group of students,  a group of friends, your mom and her class or club. You can choose any platform you wish – the Web,  Facebook, mobile devices like iPhone or Pocket PC, or even a kiosk (computer in a shared space). One  firm requirement is that whatever project you come up with has to be used by other CS students.   Deliverables and Deadlines:  Team formation  Project proposal – 2 pages describing: the main idea and functionality, the  technology that will be used, how it will be tested, work plan with assigned  responsibilities to group‐members and milestones  Mid‐project milestone report – 1 page describing: the status of the project: what  has been achieved, difficulties, problems solved, remaining steps  Project presentations   Final project report – 5 pages describing: the main idea and functionality,  technology used, social computing issues or techniques used, the architecture of  implementation, results from testing (e.g. statistics, user statements), a  reflection on how obstacles were resolved and what could have been done  better if you would have to do the project again. Also work division among the  team members (who was responsible for what).

  Team formation.  You are responsible to find a team to work with. There are 19 students who will be  doing class project, so there will be either 1 team with 3 students or 1 “team” of 1 person.
