International Business Project Chapter 10 2006 Part I: You are an entrepreneur. Your company is opening an office in ____________,________, and you have to do the research and make a presentation on what to expect when your employees travel to this location. You are completely unfamiliar with the customs, history, weather, business culture, or even the location of the city/country. Objective: Create a 26 slide presentation that will be used educate your colleagues who will be traveling to this location. Sources: The Internet will be your primary resource, however you may have to use outside resources to locate some of the information. Helpful sites: Expedia.com/wg Requirements: Required slides: Minimum of 26 At least one clip art, slide transitions, and preset animations for each slide appropriate backgrounds Slides to be included in your power point presentation: Slide 1: Name of Destination, aerial photo, and your name Slide 2: Map of the country with city labeled Slide 3: Flag of the country Slide 4: A chart of the city’s average temperature and precipitation throughout the year. Compare the temperature and precipitation to Baltimore. (Create an excel spreadsheet, line chart). Slide 5: Population of city, compare to Baltimore. Use bar chart and label appropriately Slide 6: Health issues (if diabetic, should you buy needles in this country?) (Do hospitals speak English?) Slide 7: Geographical Conditions Slide 8: Transportation options (mass transit system) Slide 9: Religion. Use pie chart Slide 10: Primary Languages. Use pie chart Slide 11: National Holidays. Note name of the site, URL, and a description. You must visit at least 5(five) different sites. No student may use the same city/country Part II: Create a brochure. Include the following information in your brochure. 1. Front Panel: Name of Destination, picture and short introduction or title. 2. Back Panel, Left: Summarize the intent of the brochure. Include picture or clip art. 3. Back Panel, Center: Contact Information, include address, phone, fax, e-mail address. Include clip art 4. Main Inside Panel, Left: Map of Country with city clearly labeled, tourist attractions, and transportation options. Include clip arts or pictures. 5. Inside Panel, Center: Statement on countries state of economy, countries GDP, import and exports, current rate of unemployment, current rate of inflation, labor force by occupation (include Chart) and primary industries. 6. Inside Panel, Right: FYI page, city’s average temps and precipitation (use charts), nightlife, and recreation 2
