Electronic Balance Puncher
Digital vernier
Ruler
Universal testing machine (UTM) – tensile test
PROCEDURE :
1. First, digital vernier calipers are used to measure the diameter of the specimen at three (3) different position and the average diameter is calculated.
2. Second, a steel bar are measured using 600mm gauge and marked. Then the steel bar are marked at the middle and punched using puncher on all of the marks.
3. The interval length of 80mm are marked using marker pen at every 5d along the steel bar. Then, the steel bar are punched at every marks using puncher.
4. Next, the weight of the steel bar is measured using electronic balance.
5. After that, the both ends of the steel bar are fixed into the cross-head UTM machine and the upwards and downwards button are pushed until the specimen are in good grip. Then, the clearance length of the steel bar is called as gauge length.
6. The specimen are ensured and fixed until appeared parallel to the cross-head of the UTM machine.
7. The readings of the load and stroke are recorded until the specimen failed.
8. The specimen are removed from the grips and stuck back.
9. The final length ( distance between 5 interval marks ) and diameter at the breakage point are measured.
