Offset machines since 1985 and handled various machines including AdastDominant, swift, Polygraph, Heidelberg, Ryobi, Panetta, HMT, Cruesotloire (UB 30/35), Harris, Orient, Hong-Hua,Coroset,Newsline-30,Newsline-45, Citiline Express, 4H Tower Units and Fast 300. Having good knowledge on Large Format Digital Printing Machines (Water based inks, solvent based inks and UV inks ).

Marketing experience at Thiraviam Printers, Kvp ( Feb 1986 – June 1989 ): 

I was privileged to manage this press independently and learned Marketing, Customer Service and Administration of a job press.

Duties and Responsibilities of my latest Job As Senior Manager of Vaartha Group, a major supply chain and a leading Telugu and Hindi daily of Andhra Pradesh having 19 branches across the state from July 2007-2009 Operations (Production, QA/QC, Maintenance): 

  

Ensuring Cleanliness & Orderliness of Press, Product Quality and Delivery on time and Cost savings by drafting and implementing the Standard Operating Procedure for the production Department in all the 19 branches of the Group. Identifying and Developing leaders among the crew members and imparting training on SOP to all crew members through leaders. Auditing directly and through trained Auditors to evaluate the implementation of SOP and to achieve the best of results. To evaluate the Quality of Product by collecting samples from our internal customers belonging to Product Sales & related departments.

Training of Staff:    

To impart training to maintenance crew on preventive maintenance methods as to reduce downtime. To impart training to production crew as to improve product quality and reduction in wastage of materials. To impart training to all team leaders on documentation as to improve productivity and to minimize the quality defects. To do the Performance Appraisal of each staff on a half yearly basis and to advise for improvement wherever necessary.

Inventory Control of Materials, Consumables and Spares for Production:    

To take stock of Materials, Consumables and Spares every day and to arrange the same as per the standard stock of each item. To Maintain the record of average yield of every item based on the input of operators and to feed back the concerned as to avoid loss to company. To maintain the data of waste of materials and consumables as to keep the consumption under permitted limit. To maintain a separate log of costly spares like blankets and bearings as to check their life and to initiate remedial action if necessary.

Guiding Purchase department: 

To maintain inventory control and feedback records on materials, consumables and spares and to guide the purchase officer to procure good quality stuff.

Business Development/Customer Service:  

As a part of Core Management Committee I was participating in the Business Planning and Implementation meetings. Satisfying our internal (Sales departments) and external (Readers and Advertisers) customers was my major responsibility.

Packing, forwarding and logistics control: 

As Newspaper is a big supply chain which reaches many readers every day, we oversee the packing, forwarding and transporting segments to work simultaneously in line with production.

Information on Previous Industrial Experience EPML, Bangalore as Press Superintendent ( November 1995 – July 2007 ) : 





Prepress and Print crew were taught Standard operating procedures (Based on 5S Methodology) and there was improvement in Product Quality, Delivery on Time and reduction in wastage of materials and consumables. Training and education were imparted on Multi-skills and many of the staff learned additional skills than their regular skill/work which resulted in the reduction of OT expenses and manpower requirement. Handled manpower so tactfully which made the laborers’ union inactive and positive towards the efficiency of production.

FEL / Times of India, Bangalore as Sr. Officer (Sep 1993 – Oct 1995 ): 



Handled Production, Maintenance and Inventory Control of materials and spares and ensured the smooth running of press by implementing Standard operating procedures. The power of labor union was shattered as printing was carried out with officers, engineers and few casual laborers for twice when the workers went on flash strike.

Deccan Herald, Bangalore as Production Asst. ( Aug1989 – Aug 1993 ) :  

Learned to operate multi color web offset machines and printed daily newspapers, weekly magazines and books. Learned to do preventive maintenance systematically and documentation wok.

Thiraviam Printers, Kovilpatti as Manager ( Feb 1986 – June 1989 ) :  

I was privileged to manage the press independently and learned Operations, Marketing, Customer Service and Administration of a job press. I also learned to outsource work whenever and wherever necessary.

Graphic Arts School, Sivakasi as Instructor ( Aug 1985 – Feb 1986 ) :  

I was benefitted as I learned printing technology in depth as to teach and train students and it is useful even today. I got rid of stage fear and gained public speaking skill.

The Hindu, Chennai as Apprentice : As an apprentice from IPT, Madras, I gained an understanding of systematic and quality printing meant for producing newspaper and quality magazine like sports star for six months.

Qualifications: • •

A First Class Diploma in Printing Technology, a 3 ½ year course from Institute of Printing Technology (Southern Region), Madras. Higher Secondary Course from board of Higher Secondary Education, Tamilnadu.

Notice Period: One Month, however, I will try to join you at the earliest.

Reason for change: It is my pleasure to learn new things and technologies with higher responsibilities and yours is one I desire to be part of, so, it is time that I switch to a creative arena of printing and to achieve great things for the organization while I grow in career.

Flexibility to relocate: I am willing to relocate immediately while my family from next academic year as my son is in 11th standard (ISC) and my wife is a teacher handling ICSE who has to serve the full academic year till April 2010. Howbeit, I assure to fulfill my duties and responsibilities whatsoever to the satisfaction of my superiors and my family won’t be a hindrance to it.
