Present Perfect Simple

(haber….. ado/ido)

The present perfect simple expresses an action an indefinitive time in the past (≠simple past: definite or specific time)

Use of Present Perfect  action that has not finished yet School has not started yet.  action that has finisihed  life experience (ever/never/before)  recent event (already/yet/just/recently) She has already cooked dinner.  action that started in the past and continue until now for/since  finished action that has an influence on the present I have lost my key.  action that has taken place once, never or several times before the moment of speaking I have met Bill twice

Form of Present Perfect: Have/Has + participle past  For regular verbs, just add “ed”.  For irregular verbs, use list of irregular verbs.

Signal Words of Present Perfect Aff  Already (ya Never (nunca) Before (antes)

Neg Ever (nunca) Before (antes) Yet (aun-todavia)

???  Ever (alguna vez) Before Never Already Yet (aun p/neg- ya p/aff)

Note: always place before and yet at the end

Other words For (durante) to describe length of time Since (desde) to describe a specific time or date in the past Always Just (justo) Lately (ultimamente/reciente/) Recently Still (aun/todavia) So far (hasta el momento/hasta ahora)
