Sumitomo Metal Industries, Ltd. (TYO:5405)

Beta: 1.63 Sumitomo Metal seemed to have completed its first leg of the corrective swing at 290, just below the 38.2% retracement level. Now, as the second leg unfolds, the stock seemed to have stumbled on the 61.8% fibo support at 209. As weekly chart suggests, the bias is on the downside, heading towards the next support below 209, at 190. While key low at 160 remains intact, we can expect that the final leg of the corrective wave will probably take us towards 306, or probably as high as 351. For now however, focus is on the downside. Look to short with stop just above 241, with the target set at 209 first and then 190 next.

Wharf (Holdings), Ltd. (HKG:0004)

Beta: 1.27 While other stocks are busy falling, Wharf has been resilient as it set another high this week at 43.88. Not many resistance levels on the upside, though. With the first one at 44.65 and then at 48.34. The latter refers to the prior triple tops set in 2007. The current rise seems to be nearing its terminal stage however, and that the correction may pull the stock back towards 38.83. Although the rise has been somewhat overextended and prolonged, there isn’t any reason to short Wharf for now. Any dip may actually represent an opportunity to go LONG, aiming at 44.65 and 48.34.
