Principal’s News We conducted several required safety drills last week with the assistance of Detective Craig Gomorczak from the Westmont PD. Officer Gomorczak praised our students behavior during these drills, and said “They were the best he’d seen , and second place is pretty far behind.” The evacuation, lockdown, tornado and missing child drills were flawless. Hopefully, we will never need to use them, but if we do, we are well prepared. Similar sentiments were echoed by Captain Daniels of the Fire Department on Monday as he supervised a Fire Drill Evacuation of our school on Monday! The 2009 Fundraising results are in for the Wrapping Paper Drive (Athletics). We realized a profit of $5932, which was $1263 more than last year! This money will be used to help defray some of the costs of the athletic program, which far exceeds the amount of athletic fees collected each season. Currently, athletes are selling $10 gift cards to Carlucci’s and Bar Louie. Each $10 card can be used as cash at these restaurants (only 1 card per visit) and the athletic program gets to keep $6 for each card sold. Meanwhile, the Book Fair (Library ) netted $786 which will be used to purchase books for the library this fall. Finally, congratulations to everyone involved in the successful PSO Halloween Dinner at Connie’s Pizza which raised $502. Thank you to everyone who supported these important fundraising efforts!

At the last School Board meeting it was suggested that parents should make a effort to attend at least one meeting of either the School Board or PSO each year in order to have and understanding of the activities of these important school organization. The next PSO meeting is November 12th at 8:30 am, and the next School Board meeting will be December 1st at 7:30 pm. Happy Halloween!!!

In efforts to end the Gift Wrap and Cookie Dough Fundraiser successfully, we need your help. Parent volunteers are needed on Thursday, November 5 at 2:00pm in the Library to help unload the truck and to separate all the boxes by class. Please let Miss Hanik know if you are available. We are hoping to have the students take their Fundraiser boxes home with them from school due to very limited freezer space. We will have helpers available for those students that need assistance to their cars.

Dennis Uniforms Last week the representative from Dennis Uniforms was here. She had looked over the gym uniforms from three families that brought them in. Chris also toured the classrooms to look at the student’s uniforms. She has been very kind in that the company will replace any gym uniforms that you are not happy with. The company is trying to rectify the problem by getting a better quality short. Thank you for your patience and hopefully the problem will be resolved quickly. If you have any other questions or concerns direct them to Chris at Dennis Uniforms (630) 932-7171 or Sue Netzel (630) 971-0184.
