Swimming success Eight girls from our school took part in a recent Central Scotland swimming event at The Peak in Stirling. They not only won several events, but came first and third in the relay and won the overall shield for best primary school. I am so proud of the girls and wish them well in the national event which will take place soon. Well done to Cameron Oliver, Samantha Lyon, Naomi Calder, Hayley Bryce, Louise McMillan, Ailsa Steedman, Rebecca Clark and Louise Lyon. I’d also like to thank their parents who supported them on Saturday. We are in the process of updating our website management and I know that some families are not getting updates despite having subscribed to our system. If you have subscribed and are not getting updates, please send your details to [email protected] Reminder - Friday 13th is dress down day As you know we are planning concerts for all pupils prior to Christmas. Tickets will be on sale as follows and will be limited in the first instance to 2 per family for each event. A waiting list will operate and you can put your name on this when you buy tickets. Nursery, P1, P2, P3 concert - Monday December 7th at 6.45 p.m. and Tuesday December 8th 9.45 a.m. Tickets on sale Thursday November 19th and Friday 20th priced £2.50 each. I’d like to remind you of two events we are having in school to give information about A Curriculum for Excellence. These will be meetings for parents / carers to hear about changes in Scottish Education and a time to ask any questions. The first meeting is on Tuesday evening (Nov 10th) at 7.00 p.m. and the second on Wednesday morning (11th) at 9.15 a.m. – both meetings are the same. For those of you who cannot attend there will be an information leaflet coming home to you. This is a time of significant change for us in schools and for our pupils and I think it is important that you keep yourself up to date with new developments. P6 pupils had their trip to New Lanark this week and it went well apart from the late return of one of the buses. I’d like to thank parents / carers for their patience and common sense in the way they dealt with this. It makes our job so much easier when there is support for us at times like this. Christmas parties are now planned and the dates are as follows (they are all in December): Monday 14th P6 Tuesday 15th P5 Wednesday 16th P4 Thursday 17th P3 Friday 18th P2 and nursery Monday 21st P1 and P7 All parties P1- P6 will be during normal afternoon times. The nursery party is in nursery for all children and will start at 1.00 p.m. The P7 party is in the evening between 7.00 – 9.00 p.m. The church service is planned for Tuesday December 22nd at 10.00 a.m. in Zetland Parish Church and we finish that day for the break at 12.30 p.m. School re-opens for the new term on Wednesday January 6th 2010. I will keep you up to date with other information as appropriate.
