Memoirs of a Middle School Student ( autobiography) Due: June 5 th -- 50 pts. 1. Task Definition: Three years ago you walked through the doors of middle school for the first time. Since then, what changes have you seen in yourself? How have you grown? What challenges have you faced and how have they shaped you? Write an autobiography focusing on the changes, growth, and challenges of your past three years. This paper should be three typed pages, double spaced. 2. Information Seeking Strategies: What three major changes might you discuss? What major events and people helped bring about these changes in yourself? Why did they make a difference? How will you decide which ones were important? What constitutes personal growth and how did yours come about? What resources will you use to garner information you might have forgotten, e.g., parents, friends, teachers, yearbook, current events, etc.? 3. Location and Access: Where do you need to go to get information you can’t remember? 4. Use of information: How will you organize this information? Which parts do you want to select for presentation? How are they connected? Will you take notes, make a web, or an outline? 5. Synthesis: In what form will you present this information: A first person diary, a personal journal, third person narrative? Will you use your own voice or that of your parents, your teachers, your friends, or a pet? Will you use visuals, like art to tell part of the story? 6. Evaluation: I’ll grade you on how well you accomplished the task and how well you used the mechanics of the Six Traits.
