Weekly Publication for Middle School Parents
ISSUE # 15 WEEK OF NOVEMBER 23 TO 27, 2009
From the Middle School Office Dear Parent/s: This week, as part of the PTA New Book Fair, the Middle School students listened to a talk given by Mr. Amado Angelo Rodriguez Lacuesta (a.k.a. Sarge Lacuesta), a Filipino writer and winner of several awards for his short stories. He shared with the audience the people and factors that were influential in his development as a writer as well as the purposes for why he writes. It was an inspiring presentation and we are grateful to the PTA for providing this opportunity to the students. As published in last week’s bulletin, the thought provoking film The Age of Stupid will be shown to Grade 7 and Grade 8 students on December 1. The film focuses on climate change and encourages student empowerment, instilling hope for the future. There is a strong message that we really do have a chance to make a difference, and we have to start now. There will be a second showing at 3:00 P.M. on December 1 for High School students, Faculty and any interested members of the ISM community. Looking ahead…On Thursday, December 3 is the next MS Parent Coffee from 7:45 to 9:00 A.M. in the Little Theater. The discussion, which will be facilitated by the Guidance Counselors, will focus on students developing positive relationships and empowering students. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us. Please be reminded that Friday, November 27 and Monday, November 30 are school holidays. Classes will resume on Tuesday, December 1. Enjoy the 4-day weekend! Sincerely, Danielle Fredericks Middle School Principal
Clarissa Sayson Middle School Assistant Principal
