If x = (163 + 173+ 183+ 193 ), then x divided by 70 leaves a remainder of (1) 0 (2) 1 (3) 69 (4) 35 Let us do it Mentally Mental Step 1( Funda) : Even x even = even and odd x odd = odd Mental Step 2: Hence, the expression will be even. Mental Step 3: An even number divided by another even no. will leave an even or zero remainder. Hence, option (1). ( CAT 2005 )

There is a list of 32 players ranked 1 to 32. In a tournament, there are four knockout rounds before the final. In any round, match no. 1 is between the highest ranked player and the lowest ranked player in that round, match no. 2 is between the 2nd rank player and the player just above the least ranked player and so on. An upset is said to occur if a lower ranked player beats a higher ranked one. Q. If there are no upsets in the first round and only match nos. 6, 7 and 8 of the second round result in upsets, then what would be the rank of the player who would meet player ranked 2nd in the quarter finals, in case the player reaches quarter finals.
