The Ramey Report
May 2007
Vision Trip 2007 I can hardly believe that our month in Mexico has already gone by. So many things have happened that it is hard to describe it all. Our God is so good. God answered many prayers and so much more. My family and I would like to thank everyone for all of their support and prayers. You have made it possible for me to follow God’s call for my family.

and hired a backhoe to start digging the trenches for the foundation. It took the excavator 8 hours to complete .
We had a great flight down with no delays or problems. The children enjoyed their first flight. They felt like veteran travelers by the time we got back. Our first item to take care of in San Marcos was where the children’s home would be located. We discussed the pros and cons of building a new structure or buying Nena’s Hotel. After much prayer it was clear that we should build on the existing property near the Cooke’s home. Pastor William and Katie Cooke are the missionary couple who have been serving in San Marcos for 9 years. We can build a new building for less than it would have taken to buy the hotel property. We drew up several floor plans before finally deciding on the one that would work best. We then took these to an architect in the city office to have blue prints drawn up. It took him about a week to complete them and only cost $150.00 U.S.! This was a miracle. This man is also the person in the town government that will approve the building permit! We decided to step out in faith and actually start building. The next day we cleared the property of brush and weeds
. William and I worked out the cost of labor and material we would need to complete the building. We estimated that it would cost $65,000 for the two-story building. We are hiring a man from the church to do the construction. This will serve two purposes. It will provide much needed work for this brother to support his family and the two people he will need to hire to help him. Also, it will allow us to meet our plan to move by this fall. In order to complete the project we must raise the funds quickly. In small town Mexico it is pay as you go. We will need a steady stream of money to come in to meet our September Deadline. We must have the facility completed before it can be inspected by the state. It is possible that we could have children in the home by Christmas. What a wonderful holiday that will be!
Out On Our Own One of the more interesting adventures on our trip was a day spent in Guadalajara. We had to take a bus from San Marcos into the city (this is a two hour ride). Then we took the subway train into the downtown area. There we met up with Arturo Walle, the pastor of the Peniel Church in Guadalajara. We then visited a children’s ministry in a poor section of the city. Here we met a couple who have been working in this poor area for almost 20 years.
Work Time We also spent several days working on the San Marcos Church. We completed the footing for the additional classrooms. The kids learned new skills such as
mixing and pouring cement. We took several longs hikes in the hills and climbed a small mountain. We all enjoyed evenings at the plaza eating and listening to the Spanish language. Kristi and the two older girls got to participate and lead a purity retreat for area teens from several churches.
We Need Your Help Their original intent was to start an orphanage but they soon noticed that many children in the area did not attend any school and were hungry. They started out by offering breakfast and some class time. This has turned into offering a full day of school and two meals. I was really moved by the love and dedication this couple had for showing Christ’s love to these children. By their efforts, they have also started a church that ministers to the parents of their students who are often alcoholics, drug users and victims of domestic violence. This couple truly live the love of Christ.
The time has come to ask for your support. We have been really overwhelmed by the prayer covering we have felt from the beginning of this project. We know that God is in this and wants us to minister to these lost children in Mexico. We now need people who are willing to support us on a monthly basis. We will require $2,000 a month to feed, clothe and shelter our family in Mexico. This support will go through Good Measure International and 100% will get to us. Good Measure is handling our accounting at no charge. This is their mission work; they raise their own funding just like we are doing. Your donations will be tax deductible. At this time we have no commitments for monthly support. I have no
doubt that the Lord has worked it out for us. Please commit this to prayer before the throne and if God calls you to give, let us know. Any funds we collect while in the US will be used for our ministry. We will need to travel to some churches and other events in order to raise enough support. We are also going to have expenses to move. Our ministry visas will cost $500.00 for each of us, including the kids.
Financial support is through Good Measure International. 100% of your donation comes to us. www.Goodmeasure.org/what we do Good Measure International 785 Harrison Ave Charleston, IL 61920 Support us monthly $______ Support the building fund $______.
Praise Report!!! William Cooke just phoned that the Clover Pass Church in Alaska sent down $1,000 to get the work started on the foundation. This will allow us to buy enough materials and labor for a week’s worth of work. We only have $64,000 to go in order to complete the project! William also told me he has ordered 20,000 bricks. The cost of these bricks is approx. $5,000. We need to raise this soon in order to pay for this order. We are doing this by faith, knowing that it will all be provided.
