Day 4 – Putting It All Together

Summer Camp 2006

 Students will be able to form sentences about family and hobbies by means of a game.  Students will make sentences about the weather through an activity.  Students will form messages describing about body parts.

 Students will correctly draw a picture of a message describing body parts. Review: ankle, ear, hand, leg, shoulder, arm, elbow, head, mouth, thighs, belly button, eye, heel, nose, toes, chest, fingers, hip, neck, waist, chin, foot, knee, shin, wrist, foggy, cloudy, cold, warm, rainy, sunny, windy, humid, stormy, snowy, cold, cool, warm, hot, precipitation, rain, snow, sleet, hail, freezing rain, hobby, mother, father, sister, brother, uncle, aunt, cousin, second cousin, grandfather, grandmother, son, daughter, niece, nephew, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, husband, wife.

Game – Time Bomb



Explain the rules of the game to the students.



Put students into 2 or 3 teams.



Have students look at the bomb game in the book.



Explain the points, bombs and dynamite.



Each team takes a turn by reading a sentence about

Game – Battleship



Explain the rules of the game to the students.

Put students in teams of 2 w/2 teams @ each table.

Example drawings on the



Teams start out by drawing 4 ships in “My Ocean”

blackboard.



The other team at the table is the “Enemy”



Teams take turns by calling out a square under the “Enemy’s Ocean” by making a sentence.



Ex. It’ll be rainy on Thursday.



In “My Ocean” other team draws O in that space & says, “miss” or draws X in that space & says “hit.”



If it’s hit then team that “fired a missile” goes again.



When the last ‘X’ goes on a ship, then that teams says, “You sunk my ----.” Whatever the ship is.



The first team to sink all the ships is the winner.

Cryptogram – What does this monster look like?

Explain to students what a cryptogram is and the best

Cryptogram from handout. Colored pencils, markers

ways to find the other letters. 

Give them time to work on it.



Have students say the answers and write on board.



Draw a picture of the monster in the box below.



Miscellaneous Activity – I Spy



Explain to students how to play.



One student (or teacher) is in “control” and starts the

game. 

This student picks an object that everyone can see.



He/she then reads the “I Spy” rhyme and tells the rest of the class what letter it starts with.

Conclusion



Students raise their hands & take guesses.



The student who guesses the word is now in control.



Game continues as such.



Week Lessons Review



Ask some questions to the students



Students must answer complete sentences.



Give survey/questionnaire to students to fill out.
