WELCOME
The first ever World Bank funded Dairy Development integrated project was launched in 1975 on cooperative principles covering 8 southern districts initially and KDDC was setup for implementation. KMF came into existence in 1984 & Dairy Development activities were extended to cover the entire state under Operation Flood-II. OF-II ended in 1987 and the process of Dairy Development continued through 13 District Milk Unions under OF-III from 1987 to 1996. From 1996, Perspective Plan works are under implementation and from 2013, National Dairy Plan – 1 is under implementation in coordination with NDDB.

Govt of Karnataka is providing Milk Price incentive of Rs. 2 to all milk producers (both members and non-members) pouring milk to Dairy Cooperative Societies in the state w.e.f. 09.09.2008

This Milk Price incentive was increased to Rs. 4 w.e.f. 14.05.2013

Further this incentive was increased to Rs.5 from Dec’16

• More than 50% of children in Karnataka State are suffering from malnutrition, resulting in improper physical & mental development • For healthy growth and all-round development of children, Karnataka Govt. launched “Ksheerabagya”, on the suggestion of KMF • Launched on 1st Aug 2013 • Govt. Schools covered - 55,683 Number of School children covered – 64 lakhs (from 1st Standard to 10th ) • WMP required per child – 18 gms/150 ml milk given five times a week (WMP required per month – 1200 MTs). Milk disposal per day for powder – 5 LLPD
• The scheme was launched on 1st Aug 2013 • Under Integrated Child Development program, children from 6 months to 6 years are given SMP • Anganwadis covered – 64,000
• No. of Children – 39.5 lakhs • WMP given per child – 18 gms / 150 ml (Five times in a week) • WMP required per month – 690 MTs • Milk required per day for this powder – 2.7 LLPD

Perennial flow of cash into village economy (Rs.19 crores daily) Regular income has resulted in economic upliftment of farmers, helping to obtain timely critical inputs for agriculture production, emergency needs of family and other educational needs of children. Even in worst drought conditions, migration of farmers has stopped from villages Rural employment generation is to the extent of 48000 apart from 24 lakhs of farmer members at DCS. Facilitated women to have control on milk money which enhances empowerment of women
Feeding milk to farmers children has augmented the nutritional status Standing in common queue breaks down the barriers of caste, age, sex & economic status with a new social outlook.
