Speaking This Weekend

Keith Eitel

Professor of Missions, Director of the World Missions Center, and Dean of the Roy Fish School of Evangelism and Missions

GREAT COMMISSION

CONNECTION You can still commit to connect this weekend in the Commons.

Welcome a Real Live Missionary Growing up in a Baptist church, I heard an unusual description of a visiting man of God – “A real live missionary.” Well, that is similar to the description of a date by a teenage friend – “A real live girl.” That is preferable to a real dead one! Be that as it may, we welcome to our pulpit this weekend a renowned man of God, an innovative missiologist, “a real live missionary.” Dr. Keith Eitel pioneered the “Two Plus Two” seminary missions program in our seminaries and has faithfully served in Africa. He is currently Dean of Missions and Evangelism at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. You will never be the same after hearing him. I thank God for how 507 of you committed to connect in the Great Commission Connection. Some

of you are still counting the cost, praying it through, and are ready to take a step of faith. Please be willing to take a mission’s package of three families, who serve overseas, in North America, and in our state. You may also receive a seminary professor and his family. They desperately need your concern, prayers, friendship, and generosity. The concept of connecting is simple and easy, yet profound. Please take your own personalized brochure and a Change the World bank for loose change to go into our Cooperative Program account. Also, keep tithing to the Lord through our local church from your income, since over 10% of all budget monies go to missions. “Untold millions are yet untold, and we can be a part in telling the Good News.” I know that you want to be a real live servant, as you “Join in the participation in the gospel” (Philippians 1:5).

An Opportunity to Dig Deeper . . . “The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful (women) who will be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:2 (NAS) A discipling class for women who wish to be grounded in their theological beliefs so that they may faithfully teach it to others is being formed. This seminary level class on Biblical and Systematic Theology will be taught by our pastors’ wife, Janet Wicker. Enrollment is limited and times of meeting will be discussed by those who register interest. Please e-mail Norma Woods at [email protected] with your e-mail address and phone number to be included in a preview session on Sunday, November 1st at 12:30 p.m. in room DC108. At this session, we will discuss the future class schedule.

Operation Christmas Child is Here! And this year, we need your help more than ever. There are many hurting children all over the world and Franklin Graham’s Ministry of Samaritan’s Purse gives Christmas wrapped shoe boxes to these children with the salvation message of Christ. Each child receives a shoe box filled with toys, hard candy, clothing, toiletries, and school items along with a book about Jesus written in their own language. It is the power of a simple gift, in most cases the only gift the child will ever receive in their life, that brings them and hopefully their whole family to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. 1. Pick up a pre-wrapped shoe box this weekend in Fellowship Hallway or at the Missions kiosk in the Commons. Fill it with presents. Bring it back next week. 2. If you are unable to fill a box, but would like to help with shipping costs, our volunteers at the table will accept your donation check made out to Samaritan’s Purse. If you have any questions at all about Operation Christmas Child, please contact Jody Statile at 239.591.1895.

“…And Still There is Joy” “You have shown me the way of life and You will fill me with the joy of Your presence” Psalm 16:11

Featuring: Anne Wright

Anne Wright is the wife of Bryant Wright, Senior Pastor of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, Marietta, Georgia, in north Atlanta. She and Bryant will celebrate 35 years of marriage this year. Raised in Columbia, South Carolina, Anne attended Columbia College and graduated with a BA in Sociology from Augusta State University. She is the mother of three grown sons and three precious grandchildren. Her interests in church include working with preschoolers, leading a mentoring Bible study for young moms, and welcoming people into her home. Anne practices a lifestyle of “Ministry in the Hallways” at her church. Her philosophy as a pastor’s wife is to love God first, love Bryant and her family, and to love the people God puts in her path. It makes for a life of joy! Her message will encourage each woman to “count it all joy” no matter what trials she faces.
