Join Us Choir & Orchestra

August 9 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel

Night of Praise This special night of praise will feature our Worship Choir and Orchestra. Invite a friend and join us for this special night of worship as we present our favorite songs from this past season.

Dedication of the New Athletic Field 7:30 p.m. 4HG -- For His Glory!

After the special Night of Praise, join us over on the brand new athletic field as we have a special time of dedication 4HG!

Family Devotions In years past, there was a popular saying, “The family that prays together stays together.” A well-known statistic indicated that with half of most marriages ending in divorce, a couple who prayed and read their Bibles together in regular family devotions and faithfully attended church increased the odds of divorce by 1 out of 1,000. That probably still holds true today. Over the next few weeks, we will be presenting a revolutionary approach to spiritual growth, discipling, and family relationships. It is not new, but it is radical to most of us. Through the ministry of Word of Life, we will be sharing their quality Quiet Time materials designed for each member of the family. In the past family devotions and Quiet Times were limited primarily to adult materials. However, we now have Quiet Times available for all ages beginning with “Early Learners” (ages 4-6) and at every stage of growth through adulthood. We will be challenging our families, whether they have children at home or not, to secure these devotionals and begin a new journey of discipleship. Obviously, many goals will be accomplished at the same time, including a true track to run on for godly parenting as well as personal fellowship with the Lord. All of us know the need to talk to God and hear from Him in His Word but have often not had a good system. These materials will help you to fulfill Deuteronomy 6:7 and Psalm 63:5-6. Whether it is in our homes, walking in the way, lying down at night, or rising up in the morning, we will be able to say: “My soul shall be satisfied and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.” Whether you and your family use the materials separately or together, there is great benefit. The full-colored, high-quality publication for youth and children will help you and them to be on the same page. Our entire church will be learning and growing together. We live in a very undisciplined age. Discipline is often derided as pharisaic legalism. We now have at least two generations who are largely and biblically illiterate. As V. Raymond Edman wrote, “We need the rugged strength of Christian character that can only come from discipline.” As I speak about this subject and as we have instruction from the author of the materials, you will be able to pray, “Let Your work appear to Your servants and Your majesty to their children” (Psalm 90:16).

“Five Conversations You Must Have With Your Daughter” by Vicki Courtney

This brand-new book has been selected to help moms who are desperately trying to talk with their daughters about sensitive issues in a godly way. It will cause you to focus on helping your daughters understand that they are more than what people see on the outside and they do not need to grow up so fast. You will learn how to dare your daughter to be virtuous. Janet is happy to announce that Karen Head will be joining her for the last session of our Reading Club on August 25. We have added the book “Your Boy: Raising a Godly Son in an Ungodly World” also by Vicki Courtney. This book will do for moms of boys what the other book “Five Conversations You Must Have With Your Daughter” will accomplish for moms of girls. Because both their needs are unique, we will discuss these books in separate groups that night. As you parent and guide a young boy to become a young godly man, this additional book will encourage you, challenge you, and help your son avoid the pitfalls of cultural pressures. See the Lighthouse Bookstore to purchase this book, and add it to your summer reading schedule.
