WDC Delta Gamma

DC Hannahs’ News Bytes Letter from the President Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing holiday with family and friends. I was honored to represent our chapter at the 2008 Convention in Palm Desert, CA. I found a new job this fall, which I love! But, I am most grateful for my precious niece that came into my life in September. She is just ador-

able. I can’t wait to share with her all of the wonderful and exciting opportunities I have experienced in life as a Delta Gamma! We’ll kick off the New Year with Fashion Tips and Trends with Betsy Fisher on Saturday, January 10.

Thank you to all the WDC woman who contributed to our drive to raise money for toys for the Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind Holiday Party. The following is an extract from the thank you letter the chapter received: "We appreciate your contributions of the toys for the children. Your contribu-

tions were crucial to the success of the party. The children opened their gifts at the party, and they were so happy with the great gifts. This event served as a wonderful occasion for the children and their families to meet in a social and fun setting."

Thanks again to everyone who helped out to make this event so successful! Also, we are collecting labels until Tuesday, January 20 for WDC Delta Gamma’s 2008 submission For more information, please contact Jen at [email protected].

Well Aware: Signing Off… As of Dec. 31, 2008, Delta Gamma will end the Well Aware program. After evaluating the program and surveying its membership, Delta Gamma determined that Well Aware no longer met alumnae groups’ needs.

On a personal note, I am sad to see the program go and want to encourage our membership and officers to incorporate the eight dimensions of the Well Aware program (Social, Spiritual, Physical, Emotional, Vocational, Intellectual, Financial and Leadership Development) into other activities and pro-

gramming. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected]. ITB, Jennifer Middleton

DGs in Provence! Calling all wine lovers! Spend a week with other DGs in the charming medieval village of Faucon, a few kilometers from the ancient Roman capital of Vaison-laRomaine. Eleanor Cartwright (Beta Theta ‘57, Duke University) has graciously invited us to her comfortable stone village house at the foot of Mount Ventoux in France.

Throughout the week she will share her knowledge of the areas’ great Cote de Rhone wines, wine makers, markets, restaurants and heritage sites. Space is limited to 8 women for this exciting experience. A deposit is due at the end of May (roughly). The trip is tentatively planned the end of September/beginning of

October. Approximate cost is $1,500, which does not include air travel, admissions and certain restaurant meals. For more information, please email Meredith at wt@ wdcdeltagamma.org.
