The Honorable John Flanagan New York State Senate 260 Middle Countrv Road suite 203 Smithtown, New York 11787 Dear Senar
*^G"frhn,
I want to take this opporlunity to update you on our process for hiring an environmental engineering firm to develop a detailed remediation plan and clean-up cost estimates for the former Kings Park property. As you know, last December we issued an RFQ for this project. The submittal deadline for interested parties was January l1'n. Nineteen firms submitted qualification packages. We have created a staff committee that is reviewing and ranking each of the submittals. The initial review process should be completed in February, resulting in the identification of a short list of three to four top-ranked firms. Those firms will be inriited to a walk-through of the Krngs Park property and buildings in late-February, after which the review committee will interview each of the firms in March. By early April, we expect to have selected the preferred consultant, at which time we will initiate the development of a formal contract detailing the scope of work and fee schedule. As you know, this contract will be subject to approval by the Offices of the Attornev General and State Comptroller.
if you have questions about this process. I will continue to provide you periodic updates on our progress in hiring an engineering firm to under the Kings Please feel free to contact me
