EXCRETORY SYSTEM INTRODUCTION TO EXCRETORY SYSTEM
• The
function of Excretory System is to excrete or get rids of unwanted toxins or wastes that are not helpful to the body.
• Main purpose is to maintain body’s Hemeostasis
Homeostasis •A property of cells, tissues, and organisms that allows the maintenance and regulation of the stability and constancy needed to function properly.
Metabolic Wastes of our Body:
•Excess salts •Carbon dioxide •Urea
A process by which these metabolic wastes are eliminated Excretion •Is one part of the many processes that maintain hemeostasis
Organs of Excretion •Skin - It excretes excess water and salts as well as small amount of Urea, in the form of sweat. *
Urea – is a toxic compound that is
produced when amino acids are used for energy.
•Lungs - It excretes carbon dioxide * Carbon Dioxide –a
gas produced when energy is captured from compounds in foods.
Kidneys – main organ of the Excretory System
these are two bean-shaped organs that extract waste from the blood, balance body fluids, form urine, and aid in other important functions of the body. -
