Introduction A motorcycle is a two wheeled vehicle which only two people can take and ride. Motorcycle design varies greatly to suit a range of different purposes like long distance travel, commuting, cruising, sport including racing, and off-road riding. Motorcycles are the most considered utilitarian vehicle due to lower prices and fuel economy. In the Philippines motorcycles are widely used due to its capability to squeeze through traffic which is very relevant since traffic in Philippines are not so uncommon. Motorcycle accidents varies from unsafe lane changing, speeding, left turn accidents and driving under influence of alcohol or even drugs. Those who drive under the influence of alcohol put all motorists at risk. In fact, drunk driving accounts for nearly 1 death almost every 51 minutes in the United States. Even more troubling is that motorcyclists are at an increased risk of severe injury and death due to the open nature of their bikes. In the blink of an eye, another driver's decision to drink and drive can cost someone their life. According to WHO Philippines’ Dr. John Juliard Go, there were a total of 11,264 deaths from accidents on Philippine roads. Around 5,970 or 53 percent of that number were riders or passengers of motorcycles, tricycles, and other two- or three-wheeled vehicles. From that total, more than 90 percent were not wearing helmets. Go also shared the total number of injured motorcycle riders and passengers for 2016, which reached an astounding 28,694 for in all. In comparison, there were only 696 injuries from car accidents and 290 injuries from bus mishaps. Injuries involving tricycle accident reached 2,658 in all. (WHO PH, 2016)

The purpose, goal and objective of this study is to develop an alcohol detection helmet ignition system applicable to different types motorcycles that will test the motorist by blowing into this mask/helmet device. If ever the motorist got influenced in high level of alcohol and fails the alcohol test, the device will prevent the user vehicle ignition until the user is free from the influence of the alcohol and try again. It can also work as an anti-theft device since the motorcycle would need this mask/helmet device and perform an alcohol test for the motorcycle to be able to be powered on. With this study, we want to maximize the safety and awareness of the motorist that drunk driving and driving without a helmet is a huge risk of injury/accident that may cause of death.
