Sunday 29th November 2009 - The First Sunday of Advent. This week‟s celebrant is Fr. Jim Corkery S.J. “Advent is a reminder that our life on earth is a preparation for the life of eternity in heaven.” Our Readings are: Jeremiah 33:14-16; Psalm 92:1-2. 5 See, the days are coming - it is the Lord who speaks - when I am going to fulfill the promise I made to the House of Israel and the House of Judah: In those days and at that time, I will make a virtuous Branch grow for David, who shall practise honesty and integrity in the land. In those days Judah shall be saved and Israel shall dwell in confidence. And this is the name the city will be called: the Lord-our-integrity. Our Gospel is: Luke 21:25-28, 34-36 Jesus said to his disciples: 'There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on

earth nations in agony, bewildered by the clamour of the ocean and its waves; men dying of fear as they await what menaces the world, for the powers of heaven will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand erect, hold your heads high, because your liberation is near at hand.' 'Watch yourselves, or your hearts will be coarsened with debauchery and drunkenness and the cares of life, and that day will be sprung on you suddenly, like a trap. For it will come down on every living man on the face of the earth. Stay awake, praying at all times for the strength to survive all that is going to happen, and to stand with confidence before the Son of Man.'

Still Haven’t Found

Kyrie:

Lord Have Mercy

I have climbed highest mountain I have run through the fields Only to be with you Only to be with you

Lord have mercy, have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and fill us with your love. Lord have mercy, have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and fill us with your love.

I have run I have crawled I have scaled these city walls These city walls Only to be with you

Lord in your mercy forgive us for our sins, Christ in your glory help us to find the strength within.

CHORUS But I still haven't found what I'm looking for But I still haven't found what I'm looking for I have kissed honey lips Felt the healing in her fingertips It burned like fire This burning desire I have spoke with the tongue of angels I have held the hand of a devil It was warm in the night I was cold as a stone CHORUS I believe in the kingdom come Then all the colours will bleed into one Bleed into one Well yes I'm still running You broke the bonds and you Loosed the chains Carried the cross Of my shame Of my shame You know I believed it CHORUS I have climbed highest mountain I have run through the fields Only to be with you Only to be with you I have run I have crawled I have scaled these city walls These city walls Only to be with you CHORUS But I still, haven`t found, No I still, haven`t found, Oh I still, haven`t found, Yes I still, Haven`t found, But I still, Haven`t found, What I`m looking, For

Psalm:

The Lord is Compassion

RESPONSE The Lord is compassion and love, Slow to anger and rich in mercy. My soul gives thanks to the Lord, God up above All my being bless His name. Keep in mind His blessing and love. RESPONSE It is God who forgives all our sins, Who heals all our ills, Who redeems our lives. Who crowns you with love, Fills you with compassion, My soul gives thanks to the Lord. RESPONSE

Alleluia:

Alleluia

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Give the glory and the honour to the lord, Where two or three are gathered in His name There He will be, in the midst of them There She'll be forever. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Give the glory and the honour to the lord.

Offertory:

If I Can Dream

There must be lights burning brighter somewhere Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue If I can dream of a better land Where all my brothers walk hand in hand Tell me why, oh why, oh why cant my dream come true There must be peace and understanding sometime Strong winds of promise that will blow away All the doubt and fear If I can dream of a warmer sun Where hope keeps shining on everyone Tell me why, oh why, oh why wont that sun appear Were lost in a cloud With too much rain Were trapped in a world Thats troubled with pain But as long as a man

Has the strength to dream He can redeem his soul and fly Deep in my heart theres a trembling question Still I am sure that the answer gonna come somehow Out there in the dark, theres a beckoning candle And while I can think, while I can talk While I can stand, while I can walk While I can dream, please let my dream Come true, right now Let it come true right now Oh yeah

Holy Holy:

Holy Holy Holy

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty. Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee. Holy, Holy, Holy Merciful and Mighty, God in three persons - blessed Trinity.

Myst of Faith: When We Eat This Bread When we eat this bread, And we drink this cup, We procaim your death, Lord Jesus. When we eat this bread, And we drink this cup, We procaim your death, Lord Jesus. Until you come to glory.

Lamb of God:

Lamb of God

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, Grant us peace, Grant us peace.

Comm:

Bridge Over Troubled Water

I`ll be your bridge o`er troubled water, When you`re down, I will carry you like a bridge o`er troubled water, I will lay me down. When you`re weary, feelin` small, when tears are in your eyes, O will dry them all. I`m on your side, Oh when times get rough. And friends just can`t be found, Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down. Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down. When you`re down and out, when you`re on the street. when evening falls so hard

I will comfort you. I`ll take your part, Oh when darkness comes, and pain is all around, Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down. Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down. Sail on silver girl, Sail on silver girl, Sail on by, Sail on by, Your time has come to shine, All your dreams are on their way. See how they shine, Oh if you ever need a friend, Look around i`m sailing right behind. Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down. Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down. I`ll be your bridge o`er troubled water, When you`re down, I will carry you like a bridge o`er troubled water, i will lay, i will lay, me down Lay me Down
