REV. MARK GARDNER, ASSOCIATE ASSOCIATE PASTOR

The Time Is Now!

aren’t a part of the church as a whole. I’m thankful that isn’t the case at FCC.

I have just finished up my third full year of working with the youth at FCC and am so excited about the group we have and their willingness to serve and to participate in youth events. We are constantly competing with school events, sporting events, family obligations, and work responsibilities yet we seem to have a very high rate of participation when it comes to youth events. Many of our students have shown themselves to be dedicated to the group and to making its activities a priority in their lives. Often, when we are with other area church groups for events, we have one of the highest percentages of youth participation.

This age group is so important when it comes to reaching lives and making decisions. I found the following statistics regarding the age at which most people accept Christ. The current Barna study indicates that nearly half of all Americans who accept Jesus Christ as their Savior do so before reaching the age of 13 (43%), and that two out of three born again Christians (64%) made that commitment to Christ before their 18th birthday.

As you can see, reaching people for Christ before their I appreciate 18th birthday is the support Spring Youth Campout Campers vital and that we receive is why we from the church and work so hard the opportuniat FCC to ties our teach, mentor, church proand guide vides for our them as they youth. The grow in their youth can be faith and make found on the worship team, decisions the outreach about their FCC Youth Group … changing lives team, the trussalvation. I strongly for us to plant seeds and to help them build believe that our youth make church a priority a strong foundation upon which to construct because they’ve been allowed to “play” and the rest of their lives. Please continue to participate in so many areas of ministry. pray for our children and youth as well as They are viewed as, and see themselves as, those who serve as teachers and volunan important part of Faith Community teers in the children and youth ministry arChurch. So many times I hear about other eas. churches where the youth have their own building and their own service, but they

Camping Recap 23 FCC youth and 10 adults spent the weekend of May 8-10 camping at Potato Creek State Park. In addition to Bible devotionals, campers participated in a variety of activities including biking, KUBB, cornhole, football, kickball, badmitton, and more. Many of the youth enjoyed riding, walking, and running along the many beautiful trails at the park. We endured temperatures that dipped into the low 40s, but still had a great time. I am thankful for each youth and chaperone that went with us.

We’ll be having car washes where we give the customer $1 for allowing us to wash their car. We’ll be hosting block parties at two apartment complexes. We’ll be giving away free bottled water at different locations We’ll be painting, spreading mulch, and cleaning up at city parks

The goal of SOS is to build a stronger “community” among our youth while also being a blessing to the “community” we live in.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

Summer of Service (SOS) The Summer-of-Service 2009 Student Weekend at Bethel College is from Thursday, June 4 – Sunday, June 7. The cost of the weekend is $50 per student but we were able to offer it to our students for $25 each because of the generous offering we received in March at FCC. Thank you to all who have supported us financially and allowed us to make this weekend so affordable in order to assure that our youth can participate. FCC is sending a group of 21 youth and 5 leaders who will join other local youth groups for this weekend of service.

Sunday Worship 9:30 am Wednesday Nights 6:30 pm Randy, Lead Pastor Mark, Assoc. Pastor Shannon, Admin. Asst.

Things are about to get wild on Wednesday nights at FCC. Beginning on Wednesday June 10th, we will be having an 8 week VBS from 6:30-7:45pm for kids age 2-5th grade. Each Wednesday evening will include a variety of activities including watching a skit, listening to a story, making a craft, enjoying snacks and games, and singing songs. The theme for this year is Kingdom of the Son: A Prayer Safari and I encourage all of our children to invite their friends to participate in this fun program on Wednesday nights.
