HOW TO BE AN EFFECTIVE TEACHER?

In Malaysia, teachers or educators are the most important civil servants in education. The service of a teacher is very important to realize the aspirations of the state. Teachers have special features whether they are naturally built or trained. This twenty-first-century challenge requires teachers or educators to prepare themselves with the new emerging facets of complex students. Especially if we are a teacher who teaches a second language, we need to diversify our teaching patterns so that each student can understand and accept all the lessons that have been given. So, how to be an affective teacher ? The key feature of an effective teacher is to define and clear the objectives of teaching and learning based on the level of student achievement. Objectives need to be informed and known by pupils before learning begins. Such determination enables them to prepare and modify the mind-set of exact knowledge, skills and attainments that should be achieved when the learning ends. Teachers can measure and evaluate student achievement based on learning outcomes. Secondly, Teachers must make lesson plans before beginning teaching and learning, including experienced teachers, excellent teachers and specialist teachers. Teachers' preparatory preparations will involve different times according to student achievement, class, material, and individual teacher's wisdom. The objectives and contents of the lessons are organized according to the students' priorities or understandings, such as from the simple aspect to the more difficult, the aspects that are in the student's knowledge or experience to things that are not yet in their knowledge and experience. Each lesson is followed by student activities organized and spontaneous. Spiral curriculum-based approaches enable pupils to develop existing knowledge and to strengthen their existing experience. They will follow stage-level, step by step, fact-finding, systematically and effectively. Next, Learning will work smoothly, appealing and effective if the teacher uses various methods that are relevant to the content of the lesson and the skills that the students will achieve. Teachers need to employ a wide variety of methods to convey the content of theoretical and practical lessons. Teachers should always modify strategies according to the expectation of the effectiveness of the use of a method. Teachers who wish to make their teaching effective, should conduct research or research on the most appropriate method for a lesson, topic or skill content. Scientific studies have to be made to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the methods used. Teachers need to be skilled in conducting action research or scientific observation.

Beside, the presentation of teachers clearly and easily understood by students will make them more interested and learning to end. Diversity in presentation style and easy-to-understand language and formulas that know the app will make pupil learning more committed and effective. Thus, the teacher should know the level of student's ability to speak. The diversity of language style and clear explanations will make it easier for students to receive and understand the content of the lessons being delivered by the teacher to further improve learning performance. Last but not least, teachers need to have comprehensive knowledge, skills and experience in their fields. Teachers should always improve their knowledge and skills in the subjects taught to be constantly updated, exciting, energetic and inspirational. Sometimes students ask questions beyond the syllabus or curriculum listed in the textbook. If teachers are able to answer accurately with facts and strong evidence, it will certainly create interest, confidence and inclination for students to follow the epistemological extension of the discipline. It is more interesting and effective if the teacher is able to bring the knowledge to life and relate to the student's life. Students will see and evaluate the knowledge they learn is useful for her in the present and future. In the nutshell, if a teacher wants his students to focus on learning, the teacher should be more open to thinking about what is best for his students. If the student made a mistake, Teachers need to be rational in such a way as to not give up their grudges against such pupils such as hitting them. Teachers must utilizing classrooms optimally in teaching not only standing in front of the classroom alone because it can get bored among the students. Teachers also must be more emphasis on appreciation than punishment in disciplining students.
