LESSON PLAN Unit: Dance Lesson Focus: Dance Fitness Technology Used: Projector Computer Music Sequence: Day 1

Date: 3/21 & 3/22 Grade: Freshman Girls PE

Standard: S1.H3., S2.H1., S4.H5. Facility/Equipment: Yoga Mats
 Drum Sticks


Lesson Intro (What will you say to get the students’ attention, communicate the lesson objectives, and motivate students to achieve them?): To start off our dance unit, we will be getting into the swing of things by following along with some videos. We will start off with two Pound workout videos, followed by 2 dance fitness videos. Those will act as a warm up to get our bodies ready for a Beach Body Cize Video. To end the class, we will follow along to a full body yoga cool down. I will be in the front doing these workouts with you so you can follow along with me as well! When I say go, I will have you all get your own yoga mat and find your own personal space so we can get started! Learning Objectives

Assessment

Each objective should include: a) Performance (the For each objective include your procedure for knowledge or ability the learner will gain as a result of this determining whether objectives have been met: lesson), b) Conditions (under which the learner will perform, and c) Criterion (the level of performance considered acceptable): 1. Students will be able to follow along with the videos projected 2. Students will participate to their fullest potential 3. Students will remember some/most of the movements seen in the videos for future reference in the unit

Safety considerations and/or modifications for special needs students: -students should be in their own personal space at all times to avoid injury to themselves or another classmate -students should be aware of how they are feeling. If a student is feeling overworked, they should tell the teacher and
 maybe take a break or a walk to cool down. -students should know their bodies limit so they to not push themselves too hard and get injured

Closure (What will you say and do to help students recall the lesson objectives and recognize what they’ve learned? How will you meet one or more of the following goals: review, accountability, cool-down, recognition, interpersonal communication, future plans?): Great effort today! All of the movements you performed today can and will be used and become familiar with you during this unit! You can use these movements as a workout like we did today, and you can use some of them when you choreograph your routine at the end of this unit! Next class, we are going to do some line dancing. Some of which you have probably done before! Movements from those can be used when you choreograph as well!

Reflective Comments (to be completed after the lesson): I changed the order of what videos we follow along to. By doing this, the students will be able to follow along and learn more and easily. I removed the dance fitness videos because they are too difficult to follow. In place of the dance fitness videos, I added another beach body video because it has more structure to it and they are easier for the students to follow along to because of the pace and repetitiveness.
