Support for Small Scale Innovative Project on Role of Men in Combating Violence against Women and Girls Concept Note Form Before filling out this concept note, please ensure that you have carefully read the Call for Concept Notes, which contains important information on the focus of the call and eligibility criteria. 2. Brief description of the project: Problem, purpose and strategies (no more than 1 page) Please give a summary outline of the project by answering all questions below: a) What is the main problem the project aims to address? (When describing the problem, please also give a background about the current situation on key issues that the project proposes to address, including info on other institutions or organizations working on this issue.) b) What are the expected results of the project? What will happen as a result of the project? c) What are the main positive changes to be expected from the implementation of the project? d) What aspects of the project are innovative in the area of intervention? Are you expecting any new knowledge to emerge from this intervention? 3. Overall goal of the project (no more than ¼ of a page) Formulate only one MAIN goal of the project that seeks to address the problem(s) identified above. In this section, also include information on how the project will contribute to the discussion on role of men in combating gender based violence

4. Beneficiaries, partners and stakeholders (no more than ½ page) Please answer the following questions: a) Who will benefit from the project (primary beneficiaries)? Whose lives are expected to change as a result of the implementation of the project? b) With whom you will work in order to change the lives of the primary beneficiaries? c) Do you have key partners in the project? If yes, what will be their roles and areas of expertise?

5. Main activities (no more than 1 page) What are the key activities to be implemented in the project? Include a timeline for undertaking them, and who will be responsible for each. Note that project activities have to start 15th June and finish by 15th December 2009.

6. Project results (no more than ¾ page). In a summary form, describe the main results of the project. List no more than three main results. Please also describe how you will measure that these results have been achieved. (See mini-glossary below for a quick explanation of terms.) Mini-glossary Results: The intended or achieved effects of an intervention. There are different levels of results: direct results such as products, services and capacities that result from the completion of activities; short and medium term results; or longterm changes to which the project contributes. Results give an indication of the impact of the project. Indicators: Indicators are quantitative or qualitative measurements of results. Example (only for illustration!): Result: Increased involvement of men in combating gender based violence. Indicators: • Number of activities focused on engaging men in combating gender based violence.
