BAB I PEMBAHASAN

A. COMPOUND AND COMPLEX SENTENCE Compound and Complex Sentence is type of sentence (sentence types) which are combinations of compounds with complex sentences. This type of sentence has 3 or more clauses in it, which consists of at least 2 indepent clauses and 1 dependent clause. Other sentence types are: 1. Simple sentence 2. Compound sentence 3. Complex sentence Examples compound and a complex sentence: While he was cleaning the kitchen, he found a lot of expired food, but he didn’t get rid of it immediately. Where the above sentence is a combination of:  Complex sentence: while he was cleaning the kitchen, he found a lot of expired food. (dependent, independent)  Compound sentence: He found a lot of expired food, but he didn’t get rid of it immediately. (independent, independent) So that overall compound and complex sentence has 2 independent and 1 dependent clause. B. PUNCTUATION IN COMPOUND AND COMPLEX SENTENCE Compound and Complex Sentence follow punctuation rules that apply to compounds and complex sentence. In summary, the rules are as follows. Kind of

If using coordinate conjunction( for, and, nor, etc), comma

sentence

punctuation is used just before the conjunction. 

If using conjunctive adverb ( furthermore, however, when, etc), the semicolon punctuation (semicolon) is used just before the conjunction and commas are right after the conjunction.



Can use semicolon to connec two independent cluses that are very related.

Complex 

In adverbial clause, if it is the beginning of the sentence, at the

sentence

end of this clause is punctuated by commas. 

In adjective clause, if you explain the subject (in the middle of a sentence),it can be enclosed in a comma or not depending on the importendce or not the information it carries.
