for your kitchen Kitchen cabinets are the most visible and used part of any kitchen. They represent your largest kitchen investment and are probably the most confusing of all the decisions you will make for a new kitchen. So, before you take the leap, do your homework. Keep a file with pictures from magazines of designs and features you like, go to showrooms and talk to certified kitchen designers. The more you know, the easier the decisions will be. Once you have done your homework and know what you want, or even if you are not sure, then consult a certified kitchen designer. Choose a designer you are comfortable with, because you are going to spend a lot of time together. Do not be afraid to ask for references and then call them. Get to know them and let them get to know you. The more they know about your family and your lifestyle how you entertain, whether you eat in the kitchen, even if you are right or left handed the more they can suggest options to enhance your space. There are three categories of cabinetry, which include stock, semi custom, and custom. It is important to know the differences, the advantages and disadvantages of each before you begin shopping. Custom cabinetry is made

to order. The cabinetry fits your space and your taste. Each cabinet is made to your specifications, one at a time, when your order is placed. Unlike stock and semi custom, nothing is pre-made or warehoused. The biggest benefit of custom cabinetry is that it is yours. The space is designed and built especially for you the options are only limited by your wants and wishes. Stock cabinets are mass produced, pre-assembled, and warehoused prior to purchase. There are no standard sizes or filler pieces in custom cabinetry. Cabinet depth, height and width can be adjusted to fit corners or unusual spaces. Instead of using fillers to address gaps or dead space, custom cabinetry can turn that space into a unique storage solution or display area. Cabinet drawers and doors will be opened and closed many times a day so construction, materials and finishes are an important part of your cabinetry decisions. Cabinets should have solid frames, door and drawer fronts, reinforced corners and closed backs. The most common stock cabinets are usually made of engineered wood with a melamine finish. Semi custom cabinetry offers more options and is typically constructed of engineered wood or plywood with solid wood doors or faces. The materials and workmanship tends to be higher quality than that of stock cabinetry. Custom cabinetry construction, materials and finishes are usually superior to that of stock and semi-custom. The drawer fronts, doors, and face frames are generally solid wood. Sauce • 1/2 cup ketchup • 2 tablespoons steak sauce • 2 tablespoons molasses • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 loaf Italian or French bread Sliced tomatoes, optional Lettuce leaves, optional 1. Lightly brush or spray both sides of the tuna llets with oil. Sprinkle both sides evenly with the fennel, salt, and pepper. Grill the tuna llets over direct medium heat (350°F to 450°F), with the lid closed as much as possible, until opaque throughout and rm to the touch, 8 to 10 minutes, turning once.

1. Using a mortar and pestle, crush the peppercorns and the mustard seed. Pour into a small bowl and combine with the remaining rub ingredients.

2. Transfer the tuna llets to a cutting board and chop them into 1/4-inch pieces. Place the tuna in a medium bowl and add the topping ingredients. Gently stir to combine. Taste the mixture and season with salt and pepper, if necessary.

3. In a small saucepan whisk the sauce ingredients with ½ cup water. Simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes.

3. Cut the bread on the bias into 1/3-inch slices. Lightly brush or spray both sides of the slices with oil. Grill the slices over direct medium heat, with the lid closed, until toasted, 1 to 2 minutes, turning once. 4. Spoon the topping on the toasted slices of bread, along with sliced tomatoes and lettuce, if desired. Serve at room temperature. Makes 15 to 20 servings

4. Sear the steaks over direct high heat (450°F to 550°F), with the lid closed as much as possible, for 10 minutes, turning once. Continue grilling over indirect medium heat (350°F to 450°F), with the lid closed as much as possible, and cook to your desired doneness, 8 to 10 minutes for medium rare, turning once. 5. Remove the steaks from the grill and let rest for 5 to 10 minutes. Cut the steaks across the grain into 1/4-inch slices and serve warm with the sauce. Makes 4 servings

There are so many different types of diamonds. They range in so many colors. From colorless, transparent, opaque, translucent to sooty black. Most diamonds that are used as a jewelry are colorless or tinted. The impurities found inside the diamond causes the gemstone’s color. Diamonds and graphites are considered as family members because both are formed from crystallized pure carbon. The only difference of the two is the way carbon atoms are formed or bonded together. The carbons are arranged in sheets that can slide easily against each other, making the graphite ideal as lubricants and pencil leads. The diamond crystals are tight networks or carbon atoms that are secured in four directions thus making the diamond the hardest substance in the whole world. For diamonds to achieve such a compact network of carbon atoms, diamonds must crystallize deep in the earth’s surface. Diamonds are usually found in alluvial deposits which are gravel being swept by rivers, streams, glaciers and ocean currents. Diamons can also be found in sedimetary rocks where deposits such as gravel and organic material are compressed within the rock. Kimberlite can also ba a source of diamonds. This is a type of volcanic rock that was discovered in Kimberly in South Africa. They are thought to be ancient perhaps to be around 3 billion years old. Meteorites are also one source of tiny traces of diamonds. Despite the diamond’s hardness, they can still be cut. Diamonds can be cut by cutting the gemstone along its planes parallel to the crystal’s face’s where the tight bonds of carbon atoms are a little weaker. When they are already cut and polished properly by craftsmen, this is when the light is reflected as best possible. This is the time the diamond’s beauty is really revealed.

Dear Reena, Do you have a recipe for making vinegar from herbs? Braxton Dear Braxton, In a large re-sealable glass container combine: 1 large bunch of clean herbs such as, basil or tarragon with 3 cups white wine vinegar. Store in a cool, dry place, can be used for up to one year. This is great for vinaigrettes. Additionally, some herbs, such as parsley, chives and basil can be pureed with a small amount of water in a blender, and then frozen in ice cube trays. They can later be stored in plastic bags for use in flavouring soup and sauces. Herb butter can be made with the addition of about 4 tbsp. chopped, dried herb leaves and a dash of lemon juice to one quarter pound of butter softened at room temperature. The butter should then be stored in the refrigerator in a covered container.

This Week’s Rosiest Tips: Spring planting is best done as early as possible, and as soon as the frost is out of the ground; a newly planted rose establishes itself quickest in the cool moist spring soil, rather than in May, when the air is often hot and dry. Also, the longer growing period will produce more and better blooms. To combat black spots on roses spray them with a mixture of: 1 tbsp. baking soda, 1 tbsp. light vegetable oil, and 1 tbsp. dish soap and 1 gallon of water. If they are too far gone make sure to purchase black spot resistant roses next time. Your local nursery should be able to point you in the right direction as far as which roses grow best in your area.

Ted Dear Ted, Use vinegar as an inexpensive, environmentally safe herbicide for spot treatment on organic farms. Control unwanted vegetation along roadsides and range lands or weeds around yards, brick walls, cracks in pavements and patios. Spray full strength or make the following fantastic weed zapper. Combine 4 cups white vinegar, half cup salt and 2 tbsp. dishwashing liquid in a spray bottle. Be careful to NOT spray on adjacent plants. Here are a few other ideas: Wrap a large roll of masking tape around your hand. As you run your hand over your clothes, it picks up the hair and sticks to the tape. Each layer of tape can be pulled off to give you a fresh surface underneath. Another option is Pet Pick-up brushes which are brushes with a specialized head that captures hair in the nap of the fabric and releases it when brushed in the opposite direction. Fabric sprays applied to clothing for static cling also repels pet hair. Another option is to rub a fabric softener dryer sheet over the surface of clothing as a pet hair pick up. Hi Reena, I was watching your segment on stain removal on the Steven and Chris show. I have a really big problem that I am hoping you can help me resolve. I have twin boys who are 4 years old. They are completely unable to aim straight into the toilet when they urinate. I have 2 other children (a very busy household) and therefore I do not have the time to clean the bathroom everyday (as is required due to the boys’ poor aiming skills). As a result, the bathrooms smell of urine even after I clean (with a solution of vinegar and water). I am asthmatic and therefore cannot use any heavy cleaners. Sometimes, moving is something that is necessary. Everything has to be packed up in order to be taken to the new destination.

It all has to be loaded in a moving vehicle of some sort only to be unpacked when it reaches the new location. After everything is taken out of the building, you look back at it with sadness because of the fond memories you have, but that is something you must leave behind. Well, you’re at least leaving the neighborhood behind. You stand there watching how these guys are putting the building on the back of an 18 wheeler and you can’t wait until it is delivered to the new location that your company acquired. There is more land and more steel buildings to be delivered to the location. Not too many people can move to a location that is ten miles away from them and actually take the building with them. Depending on the size of the steel building, it can be moved in pieces and put together at its final destination. Sometimes a steel building may be like a storage container that is used as an office. Whatever the reason, there is a process to moving a steel building. It may seem like a mystery to some as to how it is possible to move something so large and so heavy, but the process is rather easy at times. It doesn’t matter if the building is new and just being built or is an existing structure that needs to be moved, it has to be divided up into pieces. When it is a new building, the pieces are built, shipped

to the building’s destination, and then assembled there. If the building is an existing structure, then it will be divided into the same pieces it was in when it arrived brand new. After this occurs, the following steps take place: - The pieces are lifted by a building jack apparatus. The buildings are usually built with slots in which the building jack apparatus can be inserted. - The jack then lifts the building up to a predetermined height, but instead of it being lifted onto the truck, the truck backs up under the lifted building. The jack then lowers the building onto the bed of the trailer. - When the building meets its destination, the same method can be used to lift the building off of the trailer bed or the trailer bed may be hydraulic and can carefully slide the building off of the back of it. This step depends on whether or not that piece of the building can stand on its own. This process is repeated for all of the pieces. Depending on the size of the building, it can take several trucks to move the building. However, when moving a steel building that has already been in place for a while, it is necessary to employ a company that has the trucks, the manpower, and the proper tools to move a steel building. Usually, those who actually manufacture them can provide moving services for people who need to move steel buildings, but such services do come with a cost. It is more or less going to depend on how many pieces need transported and the size of the building. These factors will determine how many trucks are needed, what tools are needed, and how many people need to be involved in the moving effort. It can be quite extensive. At least if anyone has doubts about a steel building being able to be moved, you can contradict them by telling them that you know the basics of how it is done. Pocket bikes are miniature size motorbikes. They look just like them and even have some of the same features including; headlights, turn lights, and so much more. There are quite a few distinct types of pocket bikes that you can pick out from. MINI POCKET BIKES Mini pocket bikes are considered to be one of the most low-budget type of pocket bikes that are great for both you and your children. They are built with several safety characteristics and lower speeds which assist to make them safe for your kids to drive around on. Though we don’t advocate that they drive them onto the street. There are several states that no now permit this or any other type of pocket bike to be on the streets because they are tiny and frequently tough to see. It was in this country that these bikes were produced purely for racing - which is why they became so popular in the first place. They are apparently good for anyone who desires to begin their own racing league or if you simply wish to execute a few tricks on them. They only utilize electric engine. GAS POCKET BIKES Gas pocket bikes usually weigh close to 45 to 90 lbs and are not as ordinary as some of the other pocket bikes. These types are constructed strictly for racing and are ordinarily not equipped with the proper safety features. Because of this they are geared more towards adults and not children. These bikes are manufactured utilizing a gas powered engine. Depending on the model you buy you will be able to reach speeds betwixt 45 to 75 miles per hour.
