CHAPTER 1 Introduction Computer serve as a general service tool is in the field of information retrieval and operations the search for facts. Information System is in-demand for progress and productivity and provides the user with information for decision-making process. The term Information System was originally used to distinguish a computer application from the traditional accounting job. The main purpose of Information Systems is providing the right information to the beneficiaries and made it possible to share information instantly and much easier. Information Systems improves the supply of information in decision making and has a positive impact on productivity and effectiveness. The Barangay Balaybay is located in the Municipality of Castillejos which is one of the satelite campus of President Ramon Magsaysay State University South Campus is located. This Barangay has a huge area. And it is the nearest barangay in the Ship Builder Company-the Hanjin, so the workers that came from other provinces stay and live in this Barangay for a years so the population of Barangay Balaybay is increasing. The proposed system is very essential for monitoring the total number of population in this Barangay. Barangay Constituents Information System: An Information System for the Barangay Balaybay. This system serves as an assistance of the information that was gathered in this said barangay such as personal information, the population growth and statistical report. This provides a record keeping and updating information and it also allows the users to search or view records.

Project Context In the Barangay Hall of Barangay Balaybay, what we have observed is, recording data and handling resident records is done manually. There are some problems that might the proposed system can resolve. In using manual system, the data can be redundant and collecting relevant information may be very time consuming. Also, complicacy in searching, sorting, and filing of records. It can be a result of inaccurate and not updated of records and files, loss of personal and records of the constituent. The system will be the information generator for the retrieving and searching of records of resident of Barangay Balaybay. Purpose and Description of the Study The main purpose of this study is to avoid manual problems and also documentation storage problem we can’t maintain on a long period of time that is why we use computerized system to overcome all problem related to Barangay’s data storing and transactions. This proposed system will help to process data and to get information efficiently and searching of certain recorded data files accessed just by name and provided Resident Number. The proposed system provides a database and statistical analysis of the present profile of barangay. Contacting people might be easier because system will provide a vivid information for the person who is searching. The system will give the Purok and House Number, and a contact number that can help the officer to reach the person that wanted to look for. In terms of statistical review of the Barangay, the Information System will generate a report. Objectives of the Statement

To develop a Barangay Constituents Information System for the Barangay of Balaybay that helps them to have more effective method in delivering information as well as in keeping useful records and giving good services. 

To provide a computerized Barangay record management system, to make the records accurate and reliable, more accessible and easy to find.



To build an Information System that allows the user to track a person on a Barangay.



To maintain their residents record as complete and up-to-date as possible for verification.



To design a system that enhance the transactions and operations for the benefits of the institution as a whole.

Scope and Limitation The proposed system provide a specific information about the residents of Barangay Balaybay, the Barangay Officials, and some information about Barangay Balaybay as well. The system will simply store information, you just have to input the data neded such as, the Purok, House Number, Full Name, Sex, Birthday, Contact No., Civil Status, and Nationality. It is also generates unique Resident Number for the individual. It prepares a data report for the Statistical Analysis of the said Barangay. It also enables easy searching of record because you can simply input related information about the resident; the name and the resident number. You can also sort the list of the constituents. It is also designed to maintain an updated record of residents for easy identification. The system will focus only in the Barangay Balaybay. It will not use an internet connection and it is a standalone system. The system will record the individual one by one, from infant to adults because the system records the residents one by one and not by family.

Definition of Terms Automating – to run or operate by using machines, computers, etc., instead of people to do the work. Computer – an electronic machine that can store and work with large amount of information. Computerization – to use a computer to make, do, or control; to provide with computers; to put into a form that a computer can use. Data – facts or information used usually to calculate, analyze, or plan something; information that is produced or stored by a computer. Database – a collection of pieces of information that is organized and used on a computer. Manipulate – to move or control with your hands or by using a machine; to use or change a skillful way for a particular purpose. Constituents – a member of a body of citizens entitled to elect a representative.
