Plot Throughout this short story a Sri Lankan girl will have to choose between two completely different men and therefore between two different destinies. On one side there’s Vijay, a poor boy that works in a restaurant by the sea and who has no ambitions in life but loves her. On the other side there’s a rich man called Anura Perera, who can take her to another country and make her be better off, fulfilling her mother’s dreams. She hates having to take sides, especially when there’s the prospect of losing whatever decision she might make. The whole story is about relationships where money and love assume the same importance.
