Language and style
The short story combines Science fiction,
ballads, children literature and folk sagas. But the short story has most ironical, satirical and funny elements.
Parts of the story The astronaut bit the tong when the space-ship
launched sudden (and consequently couldn’t go to the moon). “Gone (…) Clean as a whistle”. Gran thought that could touch the moon or even see her husband. “Well, there is sly for you”. “Wonderful it was”.
Parts of the story Gran thought that her husband was dead just
because the moon had disappeared. “Damp, the nunnery looked”. Grandfather went to the moon without any preparation. “[Didn’t happen any moon adventures before because]The weather was bad, or someone's auntie died, or there was an eclipse.”
Why is the text satirical ?
