CAOS 2003 Cambridgeport Artists Open Their Studios to the Public CAMBRIDGE, MA -- The fall 2003 Open Studios season opens with Cambridgeport Artisits Open Studios on Saturday and Sunday, September 16 and 17, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. More than 60 Cambridgeport artists will open their studios and homes to the public for this annual event, now in it’s eleventh year. Cambridgeport is easily accessible by bus (Routes #1, 47, 64, 70 and 70A), by subway (Central stop on the Red line), or by car. On saturday, non-Cambridge residents may park in permit-only areas provided they display a copy of the map on the dashboard. There is no parking restrictions on Sundays in Cambridge. Cambridgeport is an historic and diverse neighborhood, long home to a thriving community of artists. Quiet residential streets lined with charming Victorians edge a vibrent commercial and industrial zone, all peppered with the studios of printmakers, sculptors, painters, glass and jewelry makers, illustrators, potters, photographers, watercolorists, and artists working in a wide range of other mediums. Internationally celebrated sculptor Jack Gilroy will offer a sneak-preview of his Peace sculpture commissioned by the city of Prague. New CAOS group shows will open at the Blue Gallery and the Brookline Diner, both on Brookline St. Studio location caos 2003 maps will be available prior to the opening at Central Square businesses and library, and on the days of the event at Dana Park on Magazine St. Cambridgeport is located south of Central Square and bordered by River St, Massachusetts Avenue, Sydney St, and Memorial Drive. 2003 receives funds from participating artists and from the Cambridge Arts Council, the Massachusets Cultural Council, and the NEA, with valuable support from local universities and businesses. #####
