Hello Everyone, We're coming up on the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark: Come show the world & our leaders WE CARE. Come be part of a weekend-long (Dec.11-13) global mobilization midway through the conference, in addition to the many activities planned during the conference, designed to make sure that our world leaders hear from the thousands of concerned citizens who are descending on city of Copenhagen from all over the world. 1. Candlelight (& Solar light!) Vigil in Buffalo, Friday Dec. 11, 5-6 PM, in Niagara Square,in front of City Hall. See attached to this e-mail a downloadable PDF announcement. Please forward, print a few to post where appropriate. (Thanks!) Candlelight vigils are being planned around the world, coordinated by 350.org (which brought us October 24 International Day of Climate Action.) In Buffalo, the WNY Climate Action Coalition, together with a growing list of co-sponsors (Sierra Club, League of Women Voters- Buffalo/Niagara, Catholic Charities, Catholic Care for Creation Committee, WNY Sustainable Energy Association - list still in formation) is convening the candlelight vigil. Local elected officials are being invited to attend. Come join us, bring candles (or solar lights), warm clothes, if possible a thermos with a warm beverage and . . . your friends and family! At these vigils in Buffalo and around the world we shall be lighting candles of hope in solidarity with the low-lying nations whose very survival is threatened by the climate crisis. 2. Planning/Organizational Meeting for Vigil, Monday Dec. 7, 6:30 PM at Duns Scotus Room 11, Daemen College. This is the room on the bottom floor near the entrance foyer to the new building/coffee shop in Duns Scotus Hall. We shall be meeting to distribute leaflets to those of you who can help put them up around town and take care of any last minute details.
