There will be a fellowship meal following our worship service today, staffed by Marlene, Ed, Steve, Darlene and Debbie. Everyone is invited to participate. Up for a challenge?? A short-term handbell choir is forming to prepare to play for the congregation sometime in November. This group will tackle a bit more difficult music than we’ve tried in the past. If you’re up for the challenge, please sign the sheet on the bulletin board. Join in our first practice following the fellowship meal today.

Bowmansville District Sewing Circle September Project Sewing Circle will meet at the Bowmansville Mennonite Church on Wednesday, September 17 in the morning and afternoon. You are welcome to come for the entire time, or just a few hours as it suits you. The project for this month is RELIEF KITS FOR IRAQ. Over the past five years, 2.8 million people have fled their homes for safer locations within Iraq. While some people are now beginning to return home, many are hesitant to do so and continue to live in crisis situations. In response to requests from three long term partner organizations, MCC is undertaking a $2-million humanitarian crisis response. Part of this effort is the distribution of 20,000 RELIEF KITS. A kit includes the following new items: 4 bars bath soap (4-5 oz. in wrapper) 1 plastic bottle shampoo (13-24 oz; place bottle in resealable plastic bag) 1 squeeze-tube toothpaste (min. 6 oz, leave in box) 4 adult toothbrushes (leave in packaging) 4 new bath towels (medium weight, dark color) 1 hairbrush and 1 comb (remove packaging) 1 fingernail clipper 1 box adhesive bandages (min. 40, assorted) 1 package sanitary pads (18-24 thin maxi or ultra thin) $10 donation to purchase a new bucket and for shipping/distribution costs

Place contents in a box or bag, along with a donation of $10 payable to MCC, designated Iraq Relief Kits. Kits can be brought to the church and Sewing Circle will see they are taken to MCC. If you do not wish to contribute a complete kit, you are welcome to bring several items and Sewing Circle will add what is needed. Cash contributions, designated “Iraq Relief Kits” are also welcome.
