The land in Second Life has an allocation of prims per parcel/plot, the larger the parcel the more prims you have at your disposal.
One can develop certain skills like building; scripting and textures creating basic building blocks using geometric primitives (i.e. shapes) called prims to use, trade, or sell. Almost all objects in Second Life are made from prims.
There are also building tutorials inside Second Life. Ivory Tower building EdTech
If you don't own land there are several sandboxes, which is a parcel of land set aside in for practicing building. Objects need to be placed in inventory, because the sandboxes are cleaned every 12 hours.

The tools at your disposal are quite easy to master through the Second Life software.
Objects often become scripted animated gestures and complex textures.
