NEWSLETTER

Once again, we have come to the end of a very busy term. We wish all Bryandalians a happy and restful holiday. Come back refreshed for the final count-down to 2007. We wish the two families who are leaving Bryandale happy landings and all the best for the future.

TRAFFIC

Once again, we urge parents to be very careful when driving in the vicinity of the school. A child was almost knocked over yesterday. Please obey the traffic rules and be aware of (and obey) the scholar patrol on duty.

MEDIA CENTRE

We have a new photocopy machine (black and white) in the media centre. If children require copies for projects, the cost is 50 cents per page.

RE-REGISTRATION

The Re-registration forms for 2007 are being sent out next week. Please complete them and send them back to school by 20th September. It is a GDE requirement that this form be completed annually in order to secure a place for your child next year. Should any pupils be relocating to another school in 2007, we would really like to know. This will assist us in our planning and the shortening of our waiting list for next year.

DIETARY BITES

Why are Omega 3 fatty acids important to our health? These fats, essential to our health, are only available in food such as salmon, pilchards, sardines, herring and mackerel. The body cannot manufacture them. Omega 3 is brain food and aids in the development and functioning of the brain, it also has heart protecting properties as it helps to lower cholesterol levels and HRLPS to improve the immune system. Omega 3 can also help to reduce inflammation as it has antiinflammatory properties. Try to have these fish twice a week.

ATHLETICS

We hosted the recent Big 5 Athletic meeting and WOW did we do well. We won the event overall!!! This is the second time in 30 years we beat Rivonia and the first time in 17 years we won, so well well well done to all athletes who did their best! Bryandale 178 points. Rivonia 143 Points Montrose 115 points Bryeneven 97 points The Athletics team also participated at Trinityhouse on Wednesday the 6th of September and came second overall. What an improvement!!!

HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES

FROM THE BRYANDALE PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION

GOLF DAY SPECIAL For Bryandale Parents Only! 6 hole sponsorships at our up-coming Golf Day (Tue 10 October) have been set-aside for Bryandale Parents who have their own businesses. This is a marvellous opportunity to promote your company! The field of over 120 includes many businessmen who may be interested in what you have to offer. Here' s how it works… You supply the advertising material, if you have banners, they must be A-frame as Dainfern do not allow pegs in the course. You can bring along tables and chairs, and hand out your promotional materials, provide a drink if you wish - you can make it as bright and eyecatching as you like as long as nothing is sunk into the ground! All sponsors will received additional coverage at the prize giving. All for only R300 per hole. FOURBALL PRIZES We are still on the hunt for four ball prizes nothing is too big or too small - your support would be really appreciated. THRIFT SHOP – Opportunity Knocks Pam Rodgers will be leaving us at the end of the year. Her expertise at running the Thrift Shop will be sorely missed. If YOU can assist us by taking over this very important function, please contact us. For more details please contact Jacqui Grieve (011) 706 1502 [email protected]
