Bilingual Brain

Are people who speak two languages really smarter than who do not? If I did not learn a different language when I was a child, will it be harder for me? This and other questions try to answer the educational video "The Benefits of a Bilingual Brain". Firstly, the video explains that exist two types of linguistic skills: passive and active. The first involve reading and listening, the second involves speaking and writing. Secondly, here explained that exist three types of bilingual people: Compound bilingual, who grow up learning both languages at the same time. Coordinate bilingual, who through their native language can learn another language. Subordinate bilingual are adults who learn a new language. Finally, what I liked most about the video was the final reflexion: Although bilingualism does not make you smarter, helps the brain to stay healthy, complex and active. It's never too late to learn!
