Where is Sustainable FM today? •

Sustainable Facilities Management is now being seen as more of a crucial necessity than a luxury. FM’s must rise to modern day challenges to continue to meet the bottom line.

Growing demand to address issues of climate change, rising fuel costs, waste, ethical and social issues and CSR.

Focus shifting towards operational phase of 98% of existing UK building stock to deliver sustainability. FM’s remit!

Increasingly recognised as a viable tool for delivering sustainability in industry – eg. DTI ‘Strategy for Sustainable Construction' 2007.

Sustainable WorkLife Conference - 12th June

Why do we need a sustainable FM toolkit?

• Facilities managers are faced with an overwhelming amount of information. • Focus for the implementation sustainable FM needs to be placed on the vast pool of existing building stock. • Current issues are given greater attention than other issues which may have more significance in the future.
