Library Letter News from the St Marys Community Public Library

From our director

New Fall Programs all brings new program offerings for our patrons, and I’d like to encourage you to register for and take part in them. The Youth Services Department has added two new Book Clubs to its roster of programs. Linda PriddyMeeks will host a Book Club for children in Kindergarten through Grade 2 and Paula Drummond will host both the new Grade 3-4 Book Club and the Grade 5-6 Book Club. The K-2 and Grade 3-4 participants will read the selected book together during the program, but Grade 5-6 participants are encouraged to read the book before the sessions. Books are available for checking out at the Library circulation desk. Additional details are available on page 3 of this newsletter. Baby Story Time has been added to the youth calendar, too. Carolyn Beck will host this program for parents and their babies—newborn through 13 months old. Each program will consist of interactive songs and books that are appropriate for use with babies. Babies and parents will be moving to music. Each session will end with some time for parents to interact with one another while babies play with ageappropriate toys. Baby Story Time will be offered on Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. with each session lasting approximately 30 minutes. Interactive toys are being purchased by the Friends of the Library for use in Baby Story Time. Adult Services will bring back “Dinner and A Movie” on selected Tuesday

Autumn 2005 evenings this fall. Details, including movie titles, are available by calling or visiting the Library. Due to the specifics of our licensing agreement we may not publicly advertise titles. Additional information about “Dinner and A Movie” as well as other adult programs can be found on page 2 of The Library Letter. Programming is an important part of what our staff does, and I hope you’ll find something new for you at the Library. Before closing, I’d like to mention that the Library will celebrate Teen Read Week (October 17-21) and Children’s Book Week (November 14-18) this fall. There are always surprises and special events when we celebrate at the Library, and you won’t want to miss them so be sure to visit us during those weeks. I hope to see you at the Library.
