Organizational Meeting [email protected] – people to send an email with indicating their email address Lisa: (a) overview of PHSNAA (b) Programs- scholarship and speaking events (c) May speaking event – Non traditional routes after graduation (d) Mentorship Program: Want to start with the 9th grade and lower eventually (e) Vision and structure of association -- tapping into past student resources -- raising leaders within the current school system -- fund raising $25 annual dues refer to PHSNAA Proposal (generation of funds) -- 501c3 incorporation –refer to PHSNAA Proposal -- Bylaws and officers refer to PHSNAA -- Vera would like to add sponsors to PHSNAA under the Associate Members Section refer to the PHSNAA -- Need bylaws -- Identify officers -- Sure up articles 6 and 7 -- wait until next year for scharlship --- Next meeting August 29, 2009 @noon to 2pm Auditorium--Ivy: (a)May speaking events (May 8 – 0900 until 1030 auditorium or class – speakers should show up around 0845 shoot for 8ppl ) because of SOL and other things

--Business owners in mind – Tosheika Goode, Charles Baker, Nneka Hurley, Ronald Boland (b) Should we include Juniors and Sophomores? -- Discussion we should include Juniors ( May event geared toward ) (c) Eventually want to do every other month instead of the spring and fall (d) Contact person for May speaking (e) Skype – conference call or Free Conference Call (committee meeting uses) (f) What would the students like to hear. Johna: (a) Would like to start at the elementary level (b) Testing schedule so we wont distract students. (c) To put facilities request in for the next meeting and will let know when approved Vince: (a) agrees with including Juniors (b) survey Juniors on their needs (c) ask Mrs. Fields to see what her view is on the students needs (d) the beginning of school year have an assembly with seniors (e) willing to help with 501c3 (has experience with filings with state and government) (f) will forward a copy of bylaws from his organization for ideas Mrs. P. Walker: To check with Mrs. Fields about dates and times on Monday April 27, 2009 Vera: Community with Clovia – suggest we get a spot with her to get publicity.
