Discussion of Motivational Speaker Presentation on 11/21/08 - Speakers were Tanya Patterson, Maurice Bowles, Kwame Smith - Session went well - Discussed how to improve the next presentation Time was limited Setting (classroom vs. auditorium) Panel discussion type vs. individual speakers Discussion of Advertising -

Cherra has contacted several sources such as the Progress Index, Richmond Times Dispatch, and VSU radio station to obtain advertising. This is to put the word out that we are looking for PHS alumni. VSU may be able to do something for us free. Cherra will follow up. Mrs. Mickens will touch base with her constituents in her church (Good Shepard) to look for alumni. Angela will touch base with her constituents in her church (Tabernacle) to look for a1umni.

We will see if Mrs. T. Thrift-Smith will touch base with her constituents in her church (Mt. Olivet) to look for alumni. Discussion of Activities and lead Points of Contact - The Mentoring Program lead will be Johan Jones. Action item is: Looking for volunteers who will be willing to be role models. Fort Lee may be a potential source. The Speakers Program lead person T8D (Maurice Bowles?) Action items are: c

Looking for volunteers who will be willing to share life stories. Talk about subjects such as felony convictions, jobs, and prison. -

The Scholarship Program lead person TBD. Action items are:

Kwame to talk to Regina Russell (Melvin Daniels' mother) to see how she started his scholarship and find if it is still active. Discussion of Legalities - Cherra checked into forming a 501 (c)(3). www.legalzoom.com is where she received her information. Pric' granges frofT\ $139.00 + state fee to $359.00 + state fee. - Mrs. Mickens suggested looking into legal representation and counseling. Maybe some alumni out there are lawyers.
