Area Profiles Synthesis Guidance TOOL 1
SUMMARY OF THE LOCAL CONTEXT AND EXISTING ASPIRATIONS AND PRIORITIES This form should be completed by officers who support the local strategic partnership (LSP), with assistance from all the partner agencies. We suggest that individual organisations sign off the document and that it is formally accepted by the LSP board as part of the synthesis process. This stage is essentially a cut and paste job from existing documents, although some changes may be required to match the quality-of-life themes that form the framework of Area Profiles. Depending on the timing of the work on the synthesis, some of the aspirations or priorities outlined in this form may be a little dated. This is acceptable and this stage of the synthesis does not require new thinking. The workshop at the end of the synthesis process will offer an opportunity for reflection on the issues raised, progress, key issues, effective working of the LSP and future actions.
Section 1 Key strategic documents The sustainable community strategy should be the overarching plan in a locality but it will be developed with regard to the plans of individual agencies or thematic partnerships and the regional context. In turn, the plans of the individual agencies and thematic partnerships should have regard to the sustainable community strategy. All of these documents potentially provide source material for the remainder of this form. The table below provides a means of making explicit what documents have been included. Strategies that should be included are listed below: Sustainable community strategies for relevant upper- or lower-tier authorities Housing strategies Children and young people’s plans Green space/open space strategies NHS local delivery plans Local transport plans Public health plans Regional economic strategies Drug action plans Regional spatial strategies Crime and disorder reduction plans Regional sustainable development frameworks
