What´s in Pop Art?

In your opinion, what´s Pop Art?

Pop art was a visual artistic movement that emerged in the late 1950s in England and the United States. Pop art, like pop music, aimed to employ images of popular as opposed to elitist culture in art, emphasizing the banal or kitschy elements of any given culture.

Can you name any pop artists?

Do you agree?

“ An artist is someone who produces things that people don't need to have but that he, for some reason, thinks it would be a good idea to give them.” •

“Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art.” •

“Commercial things really do stink. As soon as it becomes commercial for a mass market it really stinks.” •

“In the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes.” •

Who said that? Andy Warhol (1928 - 1987). He was an American artist,

filmmaker, writer and social figure. Warhol also worked as a (magazine) publisher, music producer and actor. With his background and experience in commercial art, Warhol was one of the founders of the Pop Art movement in the United States in the 1950s.
