Conservation Committee Conservation Committee meets on Tuesday, September 1st at 10 AM in the Patio Room at the Clubhouse. All members are invited to attend. Kid’s Fishing Derby Saturday, September 5th, 10 AM to 12 PM for kids 12 and under at the pond behind the Stage Stop in Hill Country Campground. All fishing equipment will be furnished. Prizes will be awarded to all who participate. Hot Dogs, chips and soft drinks will be served. Parents are invited to attend and assist their children.

Tables are available for $4.00 each at the flea market Saturday September 5 from 8 - 12. If you put things on floor or a line that will be an extra $1.00. NO PETS AT THE FLEA MARKET. Raffle tickets are still for sale for the Cloud 9 Quilt (queen size), 2 afghans, a C9R cook book & a basket of Avon products donated by members and Avon Representatives, Gale Dickens and Barb Lawson. Raffle tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00.

School House Committee The next School House Committee meeting will be September 8, 2009 at 6:30 PM in the Clubhouse. Come and join us. We still need volunteers to be at the School House on Saturdays to keep it open from 2 pm - 4 pm so people can come in and see. Contact Barb Lawson PM#69 or Doris Hutto LP #159 if you can help. BIRDHOUSE PROJECT

Stage 1: Approximately two dozen birdhouses have been donated to the Ranch and volunteers are scheduled to work on hanging them along ranch roads and in campgrounds over the Labor Day Weekend (more volunteers with cordless drills needed). Kadye Ward has volunteered to help the committee organize this project. If you would like to join in (donate a birdhouse or help hang them), contact Don Scola or Kadye Ward. Stage 2: A workshop to teach children how to build birdhouses will be held on Saturday, September 26th at 10:00 a.m. at the T-Top. Any interested members and guests are invited to attend. Any birdhouse donations to the Conservation Committee will be appreciated. Contact any committee member.

Activities Committee The Activities Committee would like to invite folks young & old to come & enjoy our meeting for fresh new ideas. We meet on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of every month at 10 AM in the Patio Room. Put it on your calendar so you don’t forget. If you need more information you can contact anyone on the committee. Ask the Office or Gatehouse where we are located & stop in for a visit. Committee Members are: Lynn Thomas, Chair Person; Doris Thomas, Joe & Pat Miller. We would enjoy hearing your ideas & comments. Cloud 9 Kid’s Corner SALLY’S SILENT AUCTION Donations are needed for Sally’s Silent Auction fundraiser for the Pre-Teen Center during the Labor Day weekend. Please bring items for the auction to the Pre-Teen Center or Sally’s campsite as soon as possible. Any items are appreciated. Be creative in your donations - Gift baskets are great!!

CLOUD 9 FIRE DEPT. The Fire Dept. has been providing mutual aid for other fire departments and has had to upgrade some equipment. We had to purchase a new HPX Vanguard Portable Pump for $3380 due to our other pump and motor being over loaded to the point of blowing up. Call Ranch Office if you want to donate to the C9R Fire Department.

Prayer time this Friday will be led by Barbara Lawson. Kadye Ward led last week’s prayer time and barriers are continuing to be dissolved one at a time by those attending every week. Prayers are lifted up for our Ranch Manager, Board of Directors and employees. It is evident that God is at work and answering the prayers to heal this Ranch. Come and give an hour of your day to pray and join us in praising God for the privilege of owning a share of this beautiful place together. Worship music volunteers are welcomed.

OVERNIGHT HORSEBACK TRAIL RIDE OCTOBER 10 & 11, 2009 SIGN UP NOW (Ages 10 and up)!!!! Call or come by Ranch Office to Sign-up COST: $100.00 PER PERSON $50 DEPOSIT REQUIRED AT SIGN-UP Deposits due by Sept. 15 – No Refunds after Oct. 1st (Cost is $50.00 if you have your own horse) Ranch has 10 horses for this trail ride: 2 that can carry 250+ lb rider, 4 up to 225-250 lb., and 4 up to 200 lbs. for this ride. Ranch furnishes horses, saddle, good trails, evening meal and breakfast, both cooked over an open fire. Trail ride will be approximately 4 hours long to campsite. You should be physically able to ride the casual trails and some trails requiring more strenuous riding. Oct. 10th: Arrive at stables by Noon to load tents, bedding, etc. in trailer. Ride will begin at 12:30PM, reaching Wilderness Way campsite around 4:30PM with a couple of breaks along the way (restrooms and water available at campsite). You will set up camp while our wranglers tend horses and start your evening meal. Evening meal will be hamburgers, hot dogs, settler beans and potatoes (feel free to bring along more if you like). Oct. 11th: Up by 8:00AM. Breakfast served starting at 8:30AM. Tear down camp, load trailer, back on your horse and on the way back to the stables by 10:00AM. All you need to bring with you is your tent (if you want one), bedding, snacks and something to drink on the trail. (No alcoholic beverages or smoking while riding horseback to campsite). You must wear ankle length pants and closed toe shoes (no sandals or crocs).

HELICOPTER LANDING PAD NOTICE USPS charges to forward mail. Because of the cost involved, C9R will no longer forward mail addressed to owners when they leave the Ranch. Please be sure before you leave to make arrangements with the Post Office to avoid delays in receiving your mail.

GOING PAPERLESS In an effort to save time and money, C9R Office plans to go paperless as much as possible in the near future, saving postage, as well as some trees and cost of paper. This will allow us to email statements, Rule Books, 9-Lines, newsletters and board meeting minutes, and other items. Notify the Ranch Office of your email address as soon as possible. Your email address is secure and will not be shared with anyone. In order to do this, we need your email address and member number.

We are currently getting bids for dirt work. Plan “A” involves digging down the high corner and using it for fill for the rest of the pad. This will reduce the amount of outside fill needed.
