ACTIVITY The student’s parents send in 100 items for the students to create their 100 day projects. The student’s parents will send in pictures of the community and their family from the past. The student’s will interview a family member or friend of the family that is elderly and learn more about the past of the community they both live in. The student’s parents will come in to help groups of students cook American Indian bread called journey cake. The student’s parents will help their child complete a worksheet answering questions about their family’s background to be used in a project.

Another second grade class will join our second grade class to present what they have learned about the past of their community. The teacher will have worked with the Librarian to have her set out books for her class on the Chinese inventions we use today. The teacher will work with the Home Economics teacher to bake Native American dishes and have her help students bake their own. The teacher will have informed the Art teacher that students are learning about family trees. Students will create an oversized tree and draw pictures of family members inside. The teacher will have worked with the Librarian to have her set out books for the class on heritages and surnames.

The students having difficulty will be given a special ruler with extra markings to make it easier to read. The students having difficulty cutting will be given pre-cut objects. The students having difficulty taking notes will be given fill-in-the-blank notes. Students having difficulty writing a paragraph will write simple phrases in columns. Students have trouble developing a fitness plan will be given a list of ideas to build off of.
