Last year my poppa died on Daffodil Day from cancer. My poppa was important to me and we loved hanging out together and reading stories. The Cancer Society supported us so I want to help them by fundraising. My brother Theo and I are having a stall selling tattoo transfers, stickers & flowers before and after school on Daffodil day, Friday 28th August, outside the office. Please bring a coin and come see us! By Zoe, Room 5

Daffodil Day Friday August 28th

The Student Council are once more getting behind this worthwhile cause to raise funds for the Cancer Society. Cancer is an illness that has touched many of our lives (see Zoë’s story) On Daffodil Day the Council have decided on

A Whacky Hair Day and a Coin Trail.

The council ask all children to bring a gold coin donation and get that gel and spray out for “Whacky Hair.” We can all have fun whilst also raising money for much needed cancer research. Thank You Nelson Central Student Council

I usually teach pupils in pairs. Lessons following this pattern would normally cost $7 per pupil per lesson. Families are encouraged to hire or buy their own instrument (and I will be happy to offer advice). In some circumstances Ne lson City Brass Band may be able to offer the loan of an instrument for an annual fee of $80. If this is not possible (usually due to lack of instruments available) I a m happy to recomme nd the MIRA rental sche me which operates from as little as $65 per 3 month hire. If you would like to know more about this please visit www.mira4hire.co.nz There are many music-ma king opportunities at the Nelson City Brass Band and I would encourage young players to become involved in ense mble activities from an early stage in order to enhance progress. Parental support would also be useful in encouraging regular practice at home. If you would like your child to take advantage of this opportunity, please see Mrs Ford in Room 1 for an application form.
