All are Welcome to Attend!

I have my calendar on my computer set to email me when something is just one day away. At times, it seems as though I get dozens of emails every day reminding of things to do tomorrow. We all feel at times as if our lives are overwhelming, and we are told by “experts” to “simplify” our lives. That’s not always easy to do. However, there is a way to look at our calendar and know if we are far too busy. It is simply to compare our plans with Matthew 6:33: “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.” How do we do that? If your calendar is so full that Wednesday night Bible classes have to be left off, you are too busy! If our young people continually have to miss Summer Youth

Series and other youth events (except trips to ball games), they are too busy! When we look at our calendars and see only things associated with work and play scheduled, we cannot claim to be seeking God first! Seek Him first, even in your daily calendar!

Adam Faughn VBS will only be a success if you are present and have prayed for it. Are you praying for those who will be teaching your children? Are you praying for our adult speakers? Are you praying for some to visit who have never come before, or who may not have been here in some time?

∞ Our VBS is NEXT WEEK (June 14-17)! Don’t forget that we VBS 2009: Walking Where will begin at 6:30 every night (including Sunday and Wednesday). VBS is a time where we can grow tremendously in a spiritual way, but our

Our VBS will be a success, and you can help make it such. Let’s all join in the effort and make

Finally the summer has really started. Our first meetings of Monday night Madness and Clandestine were last week; I think pretty much everyone had fun. We had a really good turn out for Monday, and a few good kids on Tuesday as well but we’d love to see more of y’all come out for both. Remember that there will be a Monday night Madness and a Clandestine every week throughout the summer except the weeks of VBS, Camp, and Mission trip. JD and I have worked up a schedule for all these events, if you need any info don’t hesitate to contact us.

MEASURES OF THE SPIRIT The late Franklin Camp wrote an article several years ago that I wanted to share with you as follows: Measures of the Spirit are not varying amounts of the Spirit Himself, but greater or less portions of power which the Holy Spirit exercised through people. Miraculous powers, such as those which were to follow the believers of Mark 16:16-18, and the gift of the Holy Spirit identified Acts 10:45, as enabling one to speak in tongues were measures peculiar to the apostolic age, and thus no longer available. Today the Holy Spirit leads (Romans 8:14), and produces fruit in our lives (Galatians 5: 16-24), by means of the Word of Truth which the Holy Spirit provided through the pens of inspired men (1 Corinthians 2:13). He does so in no other way. The all-sufficiency of the Word, in every good work (are there others???) is by the Holy Spirit Himself affirmed (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

VBS preparation is going into high gear this week. Don’t forget to invite people to come and don’t forget to come yourself. If you have some spare time I’m sure that there’s always something that needs to be done: something cut out, etc., where you may help serve. There’s a devotional tonight at the building hosted by the Hills. Brother Al Cravens will be presenting some thoughts, I’ve spoken to him some on what he’s going to talk about and I’m sure it’s going to be a good message. JD and I have gone to the green way several times in the past couple weeks. God is so amazing; He has blessed us with so much beauty all around us. I would encourage you to take a minute sometime during this week and just appreciate the beauty God has put all around you in nature. Have a blessed week, Chris
