Weekly Wrap-up By Mr Phillips What a two weeks it has been. Thank you to all my students for the positive attitudes you have shown and the desire to get back on the academic track. College is one less day away, keep it up! Who would have thought that Kurt Lee, William Aguilar, Jorge Silva and the rest of the 1st period boys would already be in uniform ready to participate? More than 50% of the students in 1st period have been in P.E. uniform, on time, and ready to go. On Tuesday, our 2nd day of soccer, Brian Aparicio and Carlos Melendez were showing off their soccer skills in 6 on 6. I saw quality passing, trapping, and communication.

Yovany Romero-Sorto and the rest of the 1st period boys in the fitness room.

“Like the car, and the store” were the exact words from Kia Ross during the first day of school. With a reminder like that, it would be a shame for anyone to forget Kia’s name. It was all smiles the first couple of days in 2nd period. But…. during the second week, these girls got down to business. They are surely on the right track as they have spent a full day

Issue 1 September 4th 2009 in the fitness room and are well into their soccer unit. Aint no stopping Denae Tillery when she gets on the court for the Pacer. She was cruising all the way to 107 without missing a single Pacer beep. And if that wasn’t enough, Denae repped out 80 sit-ups (which is the maximum) on the very next test! That’s how you put in the effort. Much improvement was seen out of the 8th grade boys. While in the health room this past Wednesday, almost all students arrived on time, and found their assigned seat immediately. However, we did have a few stragglers. Apparently, David Holmes can be two places at once. David claims to have been upstairs prior to the bell ringing, but I am certain that I saw him in the hallway before class. Could it be that David is just that quick? Pacer results were off the chart for this class as a whole. Eight different students had to be stopped early due to lack of time. Those students were Anthony Beal, Miguel Chicas, Marcus Garey, D’Andre Headspeth, David Holmes, Keri Jackson Jr., Apronti Jones, and Miles Whitmire. It is evident that this class has much athletic ability. Have a great Labor Day Weekend! See you Tuesday.
