Sound Tape: Tape various noises that express emotions (include laughter, cheering, growling, shrieking, crying, etc.) Let the children listen to the taped sounds. Ask them to identify the emotion.

Happy Feeling: Discuss happiness. Ask each child one thing that makes him happy. Record each answer on a “Happiness Chart.” Do the same for the other emotions. Replace happiness with appropriate word.

Form groups. Play a song while passing an object. Whoever is holding the object when the music stops will tell his/her feeling on that particular moment and why.

Mirrors: Children sit as pairs facing each other, Select one child to show a “feeling face” to the partner. Let the other child guess what feeling he/she shows. Matching Game: Draw a picture of faces showing the different emotions. Label the picture.
Face Match: Collect shoeboxes. On one shoebox, draw a happy face. Do the same for the other emotions. Cut faces of people from magazines. Children sort the pictures accordingly.
Characters: Invite children one at a time to come in front of the group. Then whisper something into the child’s ear like “You’re very happy.” The child uses hands, face, feet, arm to communicate the feeling to the other children. The rest of the children identifies the demonstrated feeling.
Simon Says: Play “Simon Says” using emotions. “Simon says walk in a circle feeling happy.” “Simon says walk in a circle feeling sad.”
