2009 comes to a end and the world is now ready to welcome 2010 with lot of hope as we step into the second decade of the millennium. 2009 started with a lot of fear and gloom and despair and almost no one would have predicted the happier times of today with which we are now seeing off 2009. While the noise on this has been surprisingly muted this is a area which can create social pressure and needs immediate attention to ensure that things do not go out of hand. Whatever be the immediate response it does appear that the food price dynamics – much like oil price dynamics – has changed for good and high food prices are going to be there for some time to come. While the markets went on a wild volatility spree in November the markets did not come off too much from its highs. Interest rates have been subdued as the easy money flows from the zero interest economies continue as also all banks have indicated sluggish credit demand. While RBI did make some hawkish statements the constant reduction in bank rates on deposits even post the credit policy show up the ground realities. With stock markets active and business back on track lending opportunities for companies like yours are back though the lending rates continue to be highly competitive Given the market outlook on interest rates with almost all banks and other lenders reducing cost of funds we will also be readjusting the effective yields downward by 50 basis points (0.50%) wef 1st Jan 2010.
